Aran Islands
A old mask we found in the sand, been there quite awhile by the looks of things. Hey guys,
Up in the north of Ireland now and have gone some distance since the last update. Finally getting sorted from the incident that happened with the wallet and other things, a emergency credit card has turned up so back on track.
Hitched a ride to Galway from Ennis and it was actually a police man that gave me a lift. He remembered me from the station when getting the police report and other stuff so he was good enough to pull over and asked if I needed a lift, very good of him indeed. It was quite interesting spending an hour or so with a police guy cause he told me about all the problems that is going on around the place exp the gypsy people he said they are by far the worst! Getting around in there caravans they will rob you by the drop of a pin. They even went and stole whole suburbs dogs because they heard there were two pure breeds there and went and sold them!
Anyway made it to Galway nice and easy and found the couchsurfing place that I was staying at and soon enough another Aussie turned up

Living on the edge who was going to be couchsurfing there as well, some people host up to 8 people a night, so we hung out for the next few days cause the owner is flat out studying at the moment, I think we only seem him 2 times for the 3 nights I was there. So we went about seeing the pubs of town doing a crawl each night trying not to go to the same the next even though it is pretty hard to do that cause there are so many in Galway. It was a great city, nothing to look at as a tourist like museums or forts but just the vibe of the town is fantastic. Walked around much of the place the first day, fell asleep in the city park for a couple of hours, we were doing it hard, and go to the pub is really the thing to do there! We did manage to do something one day though and that was go to the Aron Islands about one hour ferry from the coast. There are three Islands there and very nice, the sun was out, no wind made for a great day. We only went to
Aran Islands
Very old grave the larger one for the day and wish we had a bike cause we were absolutely buggered from walking all over the place, took 6 hours flat out walking and we only seen half of the Island. The best thing is that there are some more cliffs and at the highest point there is a Celtic stone fort built by ancient Celtic tribesman 2000 bc but these ones aren't fenced of at all so can go right to the edge and look over! Brilliant views of the Island from there. The land on the Island reminded my of the Burren with all the rocks all over the place and I couldn't believe how many stone fences they had and so close to each other. The photos might show it but some paddocks were only 10 by 10 meters and that’s all! We tried to imagine what the place would have looked like when the first settlers arrived and the land must have been covered completely in rocks with all the fences around. Well we had lunch at top of the cliffs that involved bread and cheese (no butter) but we treated ourselves to some ham today! Very lucky we were

Celtic stone fort hehe It's amazing how much I appreciate some butter with my bread now!
I'm now in Sligo and got another ride this morning, it was actually the very first car that drove past pulled over and gave me a lift! It is so easy in Ireland and the people are great! Anyway there is not a great deal to do and see here so thinking about heading into Belfast tomorrow morning for the Easter weekend then go to the Giants Causeway from there but that can always change.
So have a great Easter break everyone and eats heaps!!
