two days of the wild atlantic

I had decided after looking at all the travel books on Ireland that we would be able to handle about a day of cows and sheep grazing on the rolling green fields.

When I started reading about the the WILD ATLANTIC WAY I knew this is what we needed! This route is the world’s newest and longest defined coastal touring route…just 2500 km - we would actually driving at the edge of Europe (or as an Irish lad said) this would be the "last stop before New York" . We seem to get our adrenaline rush from those very very narrow roads - that have boarders of bushes which are instead of shoulders on the road. In simple terms - you are driving on the wrong side of the road with no room for error .

Mountains and beaches, always a good mix - add gusts of wind and rain storms every half an hour and don't forget Irish swimming in the beach at 18 degrees and and you've got the perfect picture of the Wild Atlantic Way.

Jeff drove the first two days because I was a little apprehensive to say the least driving for the first time on those narrow roads in a middle of a rain storm - I watched how he turned left and right and kept repeating the new Mantra - that I call Faith's saving words: the driver is always in the middle.. boy did that help. So by the third day I was driving and enjoying it except when I had to turn right! Right became the new left---

We Drove and drove in rain , darkness and even OUR GPS GOT CONFUSED.. at the moment we realized that our leader in the sky was lost Eitan texted us to see how we were- I texted him back "it's dark, pouring with rain , no street lights! in forest on a two way one lane street, Gps is confused - but don't worry." as Jeff and I were trying to stay calm I thought out loud at least someone will know .. we exited the forest to find yet another little city of 10 houses and three pubs. luckily there was a nice bartender who told us that we only had another 45 minutes to get to the hotel! What!! ?? we had been driving for 5 hours since our last break and according to the Gps we had only 8 km.. oy,.. if you are wondering .. we made it! higanu!
