Well last night we decided let’s not move on from this site for another night as it is so nice and clean and we can have showers and also can charge everything up as we will be off grid or wild camping on Thursday evening probably. Woke up to another glorious day and could hear a cuckoo bird which was lovely to be honest. Went to Fanad Head lighthouse today and decided that we would take the tour of the lighthouse which was a great decision especially as it only cost 10 euros each.

I did not know that lighthouses now do not have a lighthouse man (okay let’s be PC lighthouse person or even keeper) any more, they are totally run by technology. Fanad Lighthouse is an iconic working lighthouse at the mouth of Louth Swilly and it has been voted one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world and if I am honest it is easy to see why. Now when I say working of course that is via technology and also as a visitor attraction. The roads to the lighthouse were not too bad to be honest and we only met one motorhome going

If you can see the yellow squares this is the light - wow amazing
the other way and at an appropriate time which was really good.

We went down to the second most beautiful beach in the world or so it has been voted if totally honest is it? Well I have seen some beautiful beaches and although this is fantastic is it the second most beautiful beach not quite sure.

We walk back to the van and I am planning our next leg of the Wild Atlantic Way (WAW) - this is really difficult because I do not want it to be a road trip and not take in the stunning views, historic sights etc. Most people do the full WAW in 2 weeks covering around 1,600 to 1,700 miles but do I want to push it, no and as Mike and I agreed we can always come back and finish it if needed. We have until 30th June to be home so no issues at the moment. Relaxing evening ready for a longer drive tomorrow.

Spoke to another couple who are doing the WAW South to North and they have said we will not have a problem going around Horn Head so that

is on the itinerary again! Keep you posted peeps.

PS found out today that the beach road we went down and got stuck on is actually part of the WAW!! Have written to Irish Tourism Board saying they need double yellow lines on the hairpin bend to stop parking and also notice at top saying ”not suitable for larger vehicles!!”.
