We arrived in Reykjavik at 9:10 am, picked up the rental car, and met up with Sean and Mandy. We headed out to the small town of Stokkseyri, and then headed to the Golden Circle Route on the way to Gullfoss (1 hr from Fakasel) and Geysir. Then, on to Thingvellir National Park (1 hr from Geysir). Highlights of the park included the cracks or rifts in the land which have been caused by the continental drift of the North American Tectonic Plates and the Eurasian Plates. The most famous of these rifts is Salfra, a long narrow opening in the Earth which has been filled by a natural spring. Our loop drive was complete as we returned to Reykjavik (1 hr from Thingvellir National Park).
