Godafoss, an amazing waterfall right off of Route 1, has quite the history to it. At the National Assembly in the year 1000 the law speaker was forced to make a decision on the Icelandic religion. After he meditated for 24 hours, he declared the country to be a Christian nation. The falls gets it's name, because after this declaration,on his way home he stopped and threw all of his pagan carvings of Norse gods into the falls.
