Volcanic Landscapes, Waterfalls, and a Blue Whale!

Other worldly!…. And a waterfall around every corner
Now you know why we have been to Iceland twice. We rarely repeat a country. I loved the part of your blog when you returned from whale watching and needed to sit quietly for a moment and take in all that had happened that day. That is what we are doing right now. I’m laying in a hammock in the coffee region of Columbia absorbing the beautiful hills, the amazing birds and the serenity that surrounds us. Your blog was perfect reading. I can picture you all dressed up to stay warm on the boat. I do think the boat captain needed to tone it down a bit but you survived. How is the camera? I lost one in New Zealand as it took on too much water at a waterfall. Iceland has a stark beauty and does make you feel as if you are on another planet. Thermal waters are the most healing. What a grand adventure. I love the blue whale story, and how you were soaked (fully immersed) by the time you were finished. What a special day. I also like the Thor's horse tale. This is a place I have on my bucket list. For now, I am enjoying your stories and photos.

Amazing Iceland!
I can see why you used the word "amazing" so many times - it really did look amazing! What incredible landscape and scenery. That's wonderful about seeing the blue whale, so happy for you! I've seen orcas and humpback whales numerous times, but never a blue whale. Seeing whales is really a spiritual experience.

Sadly, too far away from Reykjavik
That looks absolutely awesome. We are hopefully going to Iceland next year. Sadly we probably won't visit Hverir as it is too far away from Reykjavik. But I know of a similar place not far from Blue Lagoon. We'll go there and get a similar experience I hope. /Ake

Alex, have you come into some gold? I sense the Viking gods are with you on this adventure; I mean it sounds like you were incredibly lucky to see the Blue Whale and I also want to point out you saw a rainbow with a start and end. I've been dreaming about going to Iceland for a while and reading this blog makes me more hungry for Iceland, what a beautiful part of the world.
