Budapest is built on top of a series of hot thermal springs which has resulted in the construction of many baths of various types. We went for a swim in the outdoor pools of the Szechenyi Baths in the Varosliget (City Park).

On the way back to the campsite we had a look at the Heroes’ Square containing the Millenniary Monument celebrating Hungary’s leaders over the ages. This was followed by a guided tour around the ornate Opera House.

Our stay in Budapest was concluded by an evening Danube cruise organised by the campsite. All the major riverside buildings and bridges were brightly floodlit and it made for a magical experience.
