A word of advice to all bloggers - do your writing as soon as possible after travelling. I remember the sights of Budapest very well, but names and details are a bit sketchy as I have left it too long. Hopefully the pics will make up for it - but this is going to be short and sweet.

There's something about Budapest. I've visited several times and will go again. Known as the 'Paris of Eastern Europe', I travelled a few times from Vienna by train - 2.5 hours. There's a lot of talk of the railway station being a bit dodgy and there are people hanging around asking if you have a hotel. If staying in Budapest, it is probably best to get one before arriving.

Upon arrival, the underground is very easy to use with its 3 lines covering most places you'd want to go. Don't bother with taxis and go straight for the metro. Both sides of Buda and Pest are equally interesting. In Buda is the cathedral, 'Castle' and much greener side. A lot to see on this side and it really is a very pleasant walk around. Parliament
is the ‘Gellert Hotel’, a grand place that houses the famous ‘Gellert Spa’. A taste of bygone luxury here and the separate male and female ‘Turkish’ spas are incredible.

Looking across to Pest from a good vantage point reveals a truly amazing view - the Houses of Parliament, glorious in the sun, dominate the view that leads onwards down the Danube. This is what it’s all about and what makes a visit to Budapest at any time of year an unforgettable experience.
