Thought about Mum, nothing new but it's her birthday.

Alexandroupolis, henceforth called Alex...

(Those round houses in Puglia, Italy are called trullo (trulli plural) They were/are both store houses & accommodation for small holders. And Cathy told me to say we bought fresh buffalo mozzarella at a buffalo farm near Manfredonia, hence the buffalo photos)

Booked a couple of nights for our return journey then set off, through Kavala (where the Dyson tried to lead us a merry dance again but we ignored it / her) & back up to the motorway. All jolly simple & only a couple of hours away. We'd decided on a short hop today & tomorrow as we don't know how long the Turkish border crossing will take us.

Into the outskirts of Alex & a driver coming the opposite way was so engrossed in Billy & the GB plates he rear ended stationary car which had pulled up to turn left. Oh dear, what a crunch poor chap!

This site is really nice – another municipal one, spotlessly clean & we have taken a pitch 50 metres from the beach. There a couple of Bulgarian famlies (very quiet & polite this time), a German couple & a Dutch family; the latter are like hippy travellers & using a converted Merc fire engine but now painted blue. Dad plays the guitar ...& some smoke drifting across earlier smelt very sweet...

Cathy wanted to go online & check out VE Day so I walked 10 minutes up the road to...Lidl! (It's the future) 2 x 1.5 ltrs of Italian rose wine, 4 x 33cl cans of German lager, a pack of Belgian choccy bics & some glasses cleaner wipes – all for 10 euros, £7.50 tops

I made a big mistake, a huge mistake of saying that IKEA would have outlets in Turkey – Cathy is desperate to take a flat pack sideboard into Cyprus for the apartment. And yes, a quick wizz online by Cathy to see that there is one near Izmir..& we'll be passing this city on the way round. Good grief. I have a plan already to camouflage it to get it into N. Cyprus.. I can unpack it it, drop the electric bed down, put it on there & send it back into the roof! Et voila. Or I just leave it inside Billy & see what happens – I can say it's a modern, if not very heavy, camp kitchen? (Not the Julian Clarey sort either)

Took great delight in emailing a couple of friends of a contrary leaning to mine about the election result; well well! I thought that it would be another coalition with the DUP or something, but no, he's off to see Queenie. I guess it's shampoo all round in Witney this weekend, maybe even Chipping Norton eh?!

I also gave Billy a face wash to try to get rid a gazzillion flies – we have done 2500 miles after all

Time for skewers on the griddle, bed & Turkey tomorrow (not for lunch...)
