That is right, Gwen eating again.
We farewell the old 2008 year and will soon welcome in 2009.

On Christmas Day, George, Michael’s brother came around 11am to pick us up and take us to his house for Xmas lunch. He initially took us out to his work place where he fed the dogs there. Then when he was driving back down the street from his work place, he noticed the stray dog which hangs around another factory. So he went back and got some dog food for the dog, as it was Christmas and George has a soft spot for animals. On route he went and showed us where the Tram Museum was located, as Salonika used to have trams as their public transport till about 1950’s. Work started on the underground Train Metro in 2006, but it is very slow work, with the discovery of two old cities underneath the current Salonika. It is supposed to alleviate the traffic jams in Salonika.
At the street market on Monday in Perea we spotted an art work- a goanna about 60 cm in length, done in the Aboriginal design with the dots. Most unusual. If we get homesick, we can rub the leaves of some gum

trees. There are a few in Perea in the front yards of some apartment blocks, but most have been trimmed back, so not large trees. I have noticed a few bottle brushes too.
We will celebrate New Year's Day with a lunch at George's apartment. I do have to agree with one of my sisters who commented that we do a lot of eating!

Surprised to see this goanna depicted at the local street market.

Wondering how this little plant manages to flourish under a set of stairs in Salonika
