Another day and another set of town walls to explore.

We drove 40k south to Nordlingen which is built in the 25k diameter Ries Basin, formed when a massive meteor struck more than 15 million years ago. We were able to circumnavigate the 2.7k 14^th century town’s walls using the sentry walk on the top for the whole way. What followed was a 70m climb up the tower of St Georgskirche to get a spectacular view of the town, its walls, towers and gates and the basin.

Our overnight stop was again in a superbly positioned camper stop just outside the town centre.
