Another day and another set of town walls to explore.

We drove 40k south to Nordlingen which is built in the 25k diameter Ries Basin, formed when a massive meteor struck more than 15 million years ago. We were able to circumnavigate the 2.7k 14th century town’s walls using the sentry walk on the top for the whole way. What followed was a 70m climb up the tower of St Georgskirche to get a spectacular view of the town, its walls, towers and gates and the basin.

Our overnight stop was again in a superbly positioned camper stop just outside the town centre.
