Hi All
Well we are well and truly into the trip now. We meet with Contiki in Amserdam and the seem like a great crowd. More girls than boys and a few couples. After visiting the Anne Frank House, we then hit the road and made our way to St Goar in Germany. It was a 1 night stop and I thought things would be pretty quiet but i would soon find out that this would not be the case. We went to a wine tasting thing which was held in a wine cellar deep down under ground and then from there we headed to the hotel. Lance and I got to mingle and meet our fellow travellers as this was our first night with the crew. Everyone gets on real well and we were soon exposed to the madness of Contiki. There was a tiny little bar at the place we were staying, things soon rarked up and before long we had the surrounding neighbours of the hostal telling us to shutup. Next morning we woke to a knock on the door advising that the bus was leaving in 5 mins...welcome to Contiki. So after a hurried packup it
was onto the bus and then we made our way to Munich.
Munich was great, although could have done with another night there. After an entires day travelling we rocked on up to the hostel around 5, a quick shower change and then we headed to a traditona Beerhall where we drank these massive 1L pintes of beer along with a roast pork meal. We watched the Semi Final Germany vs Italy and everyone had a great night. After the game we caught the train back to our hostel. I dont know how we survived without being beaten up by the Germans, specially after all the stick we were giving them about being beaten by the Italians. Was great times but in contiki fasion, it was up and gone by 745 the next morning. The body is starting to adjust to this crazy style of living.
Next was Vienna in Austria. yet another amazing europeon city, so beautifull aswell. I remember crossing the border and thinking how much like home it reminded me, the blue water and rolling hills. Such a georgeous place. That night Lance and I went to a Mozart concert (it is the year of
The Feed at Austria
taken before james ate the paper.... Mozart this year) and then on the second night the contiki crew went up to a dinner at a reasteraunt up in the forrest. Was a crazy night, mad contiki style party yet again. Had another really embarassing situation there. They played this joke and not sure why, but they selected me to play it on. Probably just my cheekiness getting me into trouble as usual. Anyhow we are sitting there having dinner, next thing the table next to us just started looking at our table laughing. It was really annoying me cause i was sure they were laughing at me, anyhow, i threatened to spit the food that i had in my mouth out on them if they didnt tell us why they we laughing. Then the Austrian waiter at the reasteraunt bangs his glass and gets the attention of everyone. He proceeds to tell everyone that the cook in the kitchen made an error, and someone who was dinning didnt have schintzel but something else. tHen everyone just cracks out laughing and looking at me and as i start to pull the food from my mouth i realise that i had a hunk of paper that had been
Matty Trying To Get Some Sleep On The Bus
Dunno why but he thought he might sleep better if he wrapped his face in toilet paper and put his sunnies on..!?!? crumbed...i was eatting paper...crumbed paper. i ordered schintzel but when i cut into it, it was white, i thought they must have given me the chicken by accident, i didnt want to be rude so just continued to eat away, I remember thinking that the chicken was pretty tough and chewy...but i carried on cutting away at it and eating it. So there I was in amongst a crowd of people...pulling chunks of paper from my mouth. It was probly the most embarassing situation ive ever had in my life. Anyhow ive now got the nick name Paper Boy. And theyve made a little song about me aswell which i cant repeat here!
Things are awesome, its so much fun and exploring the world blows us away. Things are so differnet yet so the same. People look the same yet speak different. You tip to go to the toilet and toilets in Germany are....well.... advanced. I mean, you sit down, do your buisness then once youve wiped and come clean, you stand up to leave and the toilet starts making all these noises. It proceeds to turn the seat around and then these little pads come out and it
wipes it all clean. Complete crack up the first time you see it. Weve got it on video also. Then there is the toilets in Asia...where its like you have to sit on the ground to go. We are getting used to the tipping, something which weve never had back home. The Americans seem to know what to do but the Aussies and Saffas forget.
Tomorrow we head to Venice which we are looking forward to.
Miss you all.
Take Care
James and Lance
