Hey everybody!!! Lots of stuff to talk about.. where to start? Well Ashley and our friend (Sarah) arrived last Tuesday here in Marburg for their two week visit. We spent the night in Marburg, then left for Paris on Wednesday after my class. Got to Paris that evening and went for a nice stroll after finding our hostel and such. Nice location by the Sacre-Couer, and a metro stop. The first night we walked down Champ-Elysees and checked out the Arc de Triomphe. Then we spotted the top of the eiffel tower, and decided to try and walk to it. Note, if you go to Paris and see the tower in the distance, it is probably further away than it looks. Anyway, eventually got to it and took lots of pictures (ps, it is awesome!). Then we made our way back to the hostel for some rest.
The next day was a busy day. We saw Notre-Dame, Lourve, Concierge, Sainte-Chapelle, and I am sure there is more I can't think of at the moment. That evening we did a really cool Seine river cruise that was included with our museum pass. That started and ended at the Eiffel tower, so after
that we went to the top of the tower. Awesome views up there, and there was a storm off in the distance which also looked awesome.
The next day we went to Versailles in the late morning. The line was pretty absurd, but we stuck it out and waited. Luckily it moved pretty fast. The palace was really cool, and we did our usually blitz tour. We decided to take it easy that night and just hang around the area our hostel was in and check out some shops, and walk around. Nice way to spend our last night in Paris, that is, actually getting to just stroll and enjoy the surrondings. On a separate note, I enjoyed Paris even more than I thought I would. I always hear how rude the Parisiens are, and how they won't speak English, etc. I have to say, almost everyone was really nice to us, and Paris was probably the most English friendly city I have been to. Everyone knew it, and didn't seem pissed to have to speak it. So if those stereotypes are holding anyone back, from my experiences, it shouldn't!
Ok, enough of that, time to get up at 630
for more traveling! We flew out of Paris, back to frankfurt, then to Rome (+ 5 hour layover). Eventually, we got to Rome. Then, at our hostel, we had to call some guy to come let us in....stupid. the place was really nice though. We were gonna go do the 'Rick Steve's night walk' but we were tired so we got gelato at a place right near our hostel. It was awesome.
Next day we walked all over Rome, Coloseum, Forum, Tomb of the Unknown soldier, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Campo di Fiori. We all loved just walking around in Rome, and it was nice to be on our own schedule. Highlight of that day, probably just finding cool shops, and also Piazza Navona. We also did a pub crawl for my birthday that night. It was free cause it was my b-day!! Good times.
Next day we got up and went back to the Colosseum cause we wanted to actually go in it. Did that, then made our way to the vatican. Did the blitz tour of the vatican museum, got a quick video inside the Sistine chapel (not allowed... also, sistine chapel is awesome!) Then went to the main
event, St. Pietro (St. Peters). Without a doubt the coolest church in the world. Absolutely massive. Michelangelo's Pieta is also in there. It was definitely one of the highlights of the whole trip (and I'd been there once before). That night we checked out the Trevi fountain, and walked a bit more. Side note: I saw Angels and Demons last night and it was awesome cause the whole thing is set in Rome/Vatican!
Next day we went back to Marburg and didn't do too much cause we were all pretty tired from the trip. The rest of their time here we were in Marburg. Went out a few times, and saw the city. Unfortunately the weather was crappy everyday : ( Oh well. We had a great time, and it was great to see Ash. That was my last big trip til Justin comes in June. We are thinking Barcelona! Hope you all enjoyed this, and I hope all of you will get the opportunity to visit these places someday!! These are amazing cities.

Paris and Rome- tough life!
Just looked at your pictures and read your description. I'm glad you liked Paris; you beat me there. I want to see all the sights you describe, although at a less hectic pace!
