Our grand adventure has been pretty flawless so far. Our flight was delayed by a few hours and somehow our pilots made up for lost time and we arrived just an hour over the original time. Lufthansa airline is the best! We were fed two meals as well as a tasty snack....and twice we were given moist, warm towellettes to keep fresh with. The service was friendly and my only complaint was we just couldn't sleep. We did have a screaming toddler for the first two hours---yes two FULL ON hours of the kid simply screaming, no tears, over and over with every little breath. Everyone was extremely patient for the first hour and a half. After that, even I was thinking the mom needed to dose the little shaver with a sleep aid. I rather enjoyed it when this tall man in his 50s came up and just stood in the aisle and stared....Yes young mother, it's time for your two year old to go night-night.
Frankfurt, Germany is a modern marvel with the ease of the public transportation to get around once we figured out how to purchase a ticket. Frankfurt airport is just a sprawling mega-city in its
own right. One of the world's top 10 airports, the massive size alone puts it on the list for sight seers and tour guides. The U-Bahn was everything I dreamed it could be. We were at our hotel within 15 minutes of leaving the airport! We freshened up and got our bearings and enjoyed a German heff beer and fish n chips. Mmmmm! Next stop....Städel Museum to see the works of my personal favorite Claude Monet, which just arrived here last week. The shear size of some of his works were huge! I won't bore you too much with every detail of what I loved about it...just acknowledge I simply floated around the museum on my husband's arm with a goofy grin on my face.We walked along the Main river just before sunset and took in everything we could while fighting off the needed sleep. We made it til dark? Even with a deliciously "omg I've died and went to Vallhalla" espresso in my system, the sleep arrived without trouble.....can you say jet lag?! We slept three hours and it feels like a year. ? Clayton just came back from a chat with the desk attendant at the hotel desk
and it looks like we need to go out and about again? he says I need to chat up the front desk.
We spent our supper back at a pub called O'Reilly's where we enjoyed a beer this afternoon and listened to the table next to us in a very passionate discussion. We were unclear what it was about, but all parties enjoyed the jovial banter? The evening was very pleasant and a balmy 55 degrees! Spring is here in Frankfurt. there are several street vendors selling kaffee, pretzels, beer and fresh fruit while bicycles, autos and people stroll about. Can't wait to ride the U-Bahn in the morning!? love to our family and friends,✌️
