We’ve been taking walks everyday around our little town. We had a couple of nice German meals so far although I’m not sure Allison would agree. It’s going to take our picky little eater some time to get used to the food. We went to one restaurant a couple times (not a huge selection of places in town) and she wasn’t crazy about either meal so if we say anything about going out to eat she will ask where we’re going, to make sure it’s not the same place. She has always been very good at trying everything for us so we can’t complain. She is, however, a big fan of the two main bakeries in town! She is ready to go to those at a moment’s notice. J Ava on the other hand will eat just about anything you put in front of her – sometimes only if you let her put it in her mouth herself. I guess she wants to make sure we’re not sticking any of that funny stuff in there. J

The girls like playing at the Georgi Platz in the center of town. It has a fountain with animals to climb on that have water squirting out of their mouths. They play so well together. They will just chase each other around the couch in our apartment until we stop them. They play with each others toys and are always wondering where the other one is at. Ava has started to walk at her with her arms out and gives her big hugs. Allison loves it and gives her lots of hugs and kisses back.

Mandy and I are glad we survived the last couple hectic months. We feel like we have finally had a chance to breathe. It is very quiet here and it just makes you slow down which is nice. We are enjoying each other and our girls and are taking it all in.

We took our first city tram ride into Heidelberg (http://www.heidelberg.de/servlet/PB/menu/1088101_l2/index.html) on Saturday. It was very exciting! The girls loved the ride – it took about 20-25 minutes or so with all the stops. We got off and walked a little ways to the Hauptstrasse (main street in towns where there are no cars allowed). The Hauptstrasse in Heidelberg is a mile long and four blocks wide. I read that it is the longest pedestrian area in Europe. It is filled with tons of different shops, department stores, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants and also street performers. Allison was certainly entertained by them. There were musicians and also a few people dressed all in white with their faces painted white and wearing white gloves. They would have fun with people as the pedestrians walked by – some knowingly and others unsuspecting. There was also a person that looked like a tree that made everyone stop in their tracks. Allison thought a whole bunch of tall buildings that she saw from the tram on the way to Heidelberg were castles that by the time we walked to the end of the Hauptstrasse and looked up and showed her the real castle, she didn’t seem that impressed. Our next trip into town we will actually go up and go through the Heidelberg Castle. Maybe she will be impressed then. Actually, I think she will probably be spending the whole time trying to figure out where the princesses are hiding. J

Hi Aaron and Mandy, so glad to hear that all is going well for you in Germany. Daron and I have arrived in Austin, TX. Daron was installed this past Sunday evening. We are still unpacking boxes, but Andrew and Matt were able to travel with us and spend 4 days with us before we flew them back to WI. We will enjoy reading your blog! Keep the pictures coming so we can watch those beautiful little girls grow! Love, Cara and Daron
