We continued southwards and were now in the Ardennes, a beautiful area of wooded hills and river valleys spanning the Franco Belgian Border.

Our journey took us into France and the fortified town of Rocroy which, unlike Philippeville, still retains an intricate set of star shaped defensive walls which we were able to walk around.

Then it was on to Montherme and another superb location adjacent to the Meuse to stay.
