My last entry

Hi all,
Well this will probally be my last entry. We are back in Paris now and we have one night here before heading home tomarrow. I can't believe that three weeks have gone by so quickly. We had a good time in Volos which is the city we decided to head to after Mykonos. We were going to head to another island but that didn' t really work out. Jared really wanted to do some rock climbing while he was here since he carried his gear all over Europe. The airlines sent his bag back to the youth hostel in Athens. So we decided to go back to Athens, pick up his bag and do some sight seeing on the mainland instead of the islands. We heard from several people that there are great things to do and see on the mainland that most tourist don't go to because they all head to the Greek islands. Volos also has some good rock climbing spots in the surrounding areas. Volos is a cool city in a beautiful part of Greece. There are some beutiful beaches as well as incredible ruins to explore. It is in the heart of the area where all the kalamata olives are grown. Wild olive trees lined all the roads. We enjoyed some yummy olives while there. They also had some wonderful food in that area. They are known particularly for a drink made there called tsipouro. They love their cafe's in Greece and all over you'll find the old men sitting in cafe's drinking tsipouro and talking non stop. Tsipouro is served with some very delicious snacks. Each cafe' had different snacks served with each order of tsipouro. Tsipouro is like ouzo but with a slightly less liquorice flavor to it. The snacks they serve with it are quite yummy. We did a lot of sitting in Cafe's drinking tsipouro and eating snacks. You know what they say, " When in Greece, do as the Greeks do" 😊
Jared and I rented a car one day and spent the day exploring the small villages in the area. Each town has a ton of cafe's and all of them are packed. We just spent the day exploring and hanging out in cafe's. Then we spent the rest of the day on the beach.
We spent one more night in Athens before heading back to Paris. We stayed in the same youth hostel on our way back through Athens and hung out with some fun and wild fellow travelers. We all watched the world cup down stairs in the bar, and can those Europeans ever get fired up about their football! They sure do love their football.
Well anyway I suppose I should go. I guess all good things must come to an end and this one is coming to an end for me. We have one more night here in Paris and then it's home to see all of you! 😊 Jared and I are going out to a very yummy sounding French dinner tonight to toast to our last night of vacation. One last splurge before heading back to real life. Thanks for logging on and reading all my banter. It has been fun to share.
