When they say that Paris is the City of Light, they really do mean it.
I spent 4 beautiful days in Paris and feel like I´ve only just scratched the surface of this place.
As you have probably noticed by my lack of blogging, I packed in as much as was humanely possible. Not time for rest or relaxation!
So Day 2 in Paris:
Made a pilgrimage to the Père Lachaise Cemetery to visit the graves of Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde.
Headed to Montmartre and checked out the Basilisca on top of the hill, the artists´square and then had a traditional French meal (including escargots and boef bourginon). We headed back down the hill (I´d say mountain) to the Moulin Rouge which was bloody expensive so we flagged going in. From here we went to a perfume museum... hurt my nose. I have no care for stinky perfume. AND THEN we headed to the Champs Elysees, nosied on down past all the lush shops that are highly decorative and glittery, up to the Arc de Triomphe.
Day 3:
We headed to the Catacombes and walked through the maze of skulls and bones that are stowed
Paris
Paris - France a kilometre under the streets of Paris. Quite disturbing really, how they make shapes and mosaics out of people´s heads. Close by was the Notre Dame, we had a look inside and then parted ways with Liz. Leah and I decided to seek out the Shakespeare Bookshop where Earnest Hemmingway held his book clubs. What an awesome shop, packed to the brim with old and new books. I could have spent donkeys years crawling through each and every one of them. We went back to the island to check out the Conciergerie, where Marie Antoinette´s cell was before she was executed. They had a film exhibition happening in the main hall so Leah and I played around with blue screens and what not.
From here we met back up with Liz at the tomb of Napoleon because we were going to head to the biggie... MY TOWER! The Eiffel Tower. For anyone who hasn´t been to my unit, my bedroom has a city theme with Paris taking the cake. So my plan was to get there in the afternoon, get day photos, go up at twilight and watch the sun go down. This was exactly what we did. So whilst
Paris Nord ST
Paris - France up that damned tall tower we saw the sun set, the moon rise, the lights turn on in the City of Light and then to top it all off, the tower fairy lights went off on the hour!!!! EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED IN LIFE NOW COMPLETE! Wows!!
Day 4:
The Louvre. Surely enough said! We spend 9 hours crawling through the maze that is the Louvre and I´m fairly satisfied with everything I saw.
So Paris, a complete success. Jádore Paris!
Mum, we´re coming back here fo sho! xx Lex
