Yes that's right we are back in PARIS!!! Have to say though we LOVED and I mean LOVED Versailles. Could have spent the whole trip there. The Chateau de Versailles is beautiful, (pictures to follow), and so much history. We spent 7 1/2 hours and didn't see a 1/4 of it. Plus it was raining to beat the band and we got a bit drenched (along with everyone else). Only thing that saved us was we took the mini train to Marie-Antoinette's little cottage (ha ha ha little right). So many paintings (6,ooo) and statues (2,000) and well other pieces of art (10,000) to see. The ceilings were just covered in art and oh so much to take in. We even had a bit lunch in the chateau. They have about four or five different places to eat at the chateau, we went with one of the sandwich places then there was a couple of rooms with tables and chairs, very crowded so if you want to sit and eat you have to share a table with other people.
I have to admit that when we reached la galerie du glaces (Hall of Mirrors) I wanted to weep. Having looked
at a picture book of Versailles in High School I always wanted to go and walk through this room. And I finally did. It was the icing on the cake for me this trip. The only thing that would have made it better was if all the other people weren't there. 😊
As stated above we didn't see much of the grounds due to the rain and wind. So of course we will have to come back. Also note that museums are free in Paris and Versailles on the first Sunday of every month. Though as the guy at the info desk explained Versailles is special and not all of it is for free. So we still bought a full price ticket and was granted full access.
Reading on the plaque in Louis XIV's bedchamber it stated that there was a ceremony for him to get up and go to bed everyday, can you imagine! There was also a rather large exhibit entitled Louis XIV l'homme et l'roi and was quite the hommage to the man. The exhibit was full of paintings, sculptures, rugs, desks, coins, medallions all having to do with his growing up and becoming king.
His thought process that he was the Sun King hand picked by God, Jesus, Mary, Apollo and the rest of Olympus. However the man did have good taste in art, funishings, and apprication for knowledge. Not that he shared, but at least its there for us to share now.
When we first got to the chateau for tickets (billets) we just happened to be first in line. YEAH US!
As you will see in the photographs there was a lot of detail everywhere, door handles, brackets for holding back drapes, mounts for picture frames, fireplaces, floors, entry ways for rooms, and on and on and on... And GOLD! There is gold everywhere! Beautiful simply beautiful, wish you were here!
I have to interject a bit on the food in Versailles, the first night there we went to Chez Lazare for dinner. A very nice little resturant with amazing food. Both of us had Escargots and Beouf Bourguignon, and it was all to die for, along with a wonderful Bourdeux wine.
On a family hi Mark, Theresa, Hannah, Kelly and MegSweetie I love all of you I do miss you however I'm having the time of my
life. Mark thank you for taking care of the card situation. Please give Megsweetie a hug from me.
So much to talk about and I'm having a time trying to get it all out. So on to pictures! I promise to get them all up when I get home, its just hard here as I keep losing internet, and its usually late when I start. So without further adieu... Photos!!!

Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing! It looks very much like Spain and Italy; old architecture, bling etc.
