Caleb and I arrived in Paris on Sunday and walked along the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triumph. At 10pm we headed over to the Eiffel Tower from our hotel… it was chaotic. We had to wait 40 minutes to get our tickets and go up the escalator to the 2nd level. Then on that level there was very little room to move and we had to wait 30 minutes to get up to the top level! So we pushed our way around the top level (past a squished up couple who had just got engaged?! - not Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes though hahaha) and then had to wait 20 minutes to get back down to level 2. Then we abandoned waiting who knows how long for the elevator from there and took the many steps down to the bottom.

Monday we went to the Louvre and had a wander and got somewhat lost inside. Then we went to Sacre Coeur and had a chocolate crepe at Montmartre (which was good but did not come close to the Belgian waffles I missed out on when our train from Amsterdam through Brussels to Paris ran late and did not

allow me my 20 minutes to go in search of a chocolatey waffle or Belgian chocolates - although Mum Ingrid bought me a very nice box of the chocolates which has tided me over). Some sneaky French artist fellows at Montmartre stopped us and cut out a silhouette of each of us on these little pieces of paper which we thought was quite neat but then they asked for 20 Euro for it! What a joke.

That night we tried Escargot! Larissa had told us that the garlic is so strong that you can't taste the snail anyway - sadly the garlic taste did not overpower the texture or the thought of the fact that it was a snail - thus the snails on the fence back home are still safe. 😊

Tuesday we went to Notre Dame in the morning. Then checked out of our hotel and waited for our bus to get out to the obscure airport we flew out of Paris from that had a tent as a departure 'lounge' (Ryan Air), flew to an obscure airport in Venice, and had to catch a bus in from there.
