Estonian Flag - Gulf of Finland
On the stern board I saw estonian flag. Ship sailed through Gulf of Finland We were a bit embarrassed when we got on ferry board - How Tallinn looks like? Is it more interesting than Helsinki or Turku? We heard some positive opinions and some people recommended estonian capitol as worthy to visit. We hoped so.
On the ferry Ania immidiately found confortable seats for her, for me and to put our stuff but I wouldn't to sit inside during the cruise through sea! No, it isn't me. I felt I want to spend this time taking a breathe of sea air and feel just a bit as sailor or seaman. Why not? (-: I left outside and spent all of cruise on stern board for taking a pictures. Wheather was very nice - sunny, no even tiny cloud was flowing on the sky. We passed some ships but I couldn't recognise what kind they were and we passed someting like lighthouse... It was tower built into the sea, not on island even small rock. I took some pictures.
We got to our destination -
Tallinn from distance presented as modern town with some skycrapers visible from sea. We went to town and followed to our hotel. This hotel called Mikhli and it
Ships - Gulf of Finland
I think these were any fishermen ships but I don't know. Gulf of Finland was situated in Endla street. We got nice double room with tv, internet, bathroom with jacuzzi and shower. Staff speak in english and Russian, at the morning we ate very tasty breakfast. Very recommended. Hotel is located about 10-15 minut walk from Tallinn's old town.
At the old town we desided to move with town map, because streets don't cross at right angle but at random angles and obviously names of the streets are Estonian and very difficult to remember. We admired of Tallinn's castle (residence of Estonia's government), Alexander Nevski orthodox church - Ania dragged me inside, memorial board for
ORP OrzeĊ nearby maritime museum. We walked couple of hours thought old town and we noticed Tallinn has a specific atmoshpere - even staff in restaurants wore medieval dresses and decorations referred to those times. I think we felt a bit we are in different world and that was nice. Tenements were paint for various colours and as we noticed no one of them was neglected. We walked along city walls as well and finally we found silent place to take a rest.
In Tallinn except seesighting we spent a lot of time in shops, Ania bought any
Lighthouse - Gulf of Finland
It looks like a lighthouse but i can't say what was it. The tower is located several kilometers to north from Tallinn. items, me not because I held with myself to small bag. We ate traditional food in decorated restaurant and we spent a short time in town centre - we noticed this is a bit similar to our home town and to Helsinki as well. Baltic sea is common as well. Eventually at the evening we spent short time on the beach just to admire the sunset and orange-pink sky. It wasn't white night because it was August not June or July.
From Tallinn to Riga in Latvia we travelled by double decker. We sat upstairs to see more detalis through the window. Bus was confortable and clean. We were travelling about 4-5 hours and I noticed Estonia and Latvia very low density, these are calm and silent coutries as I realised coast both of them is not overcrowded. We saw sea from bus.

I love this
It's always heart warming to hear so much positive about our "Fairytale town" Tallinn. We Estonians forget from time to time what we have here. Mihkli hotel is a very nice place to stay, i have been there myself couple of times and we have it as our business partner as well. I hope you'll find time to visit us again. B. ohtallinn.com
