Me and Jamie with the man on all the advertisements for the international film festival in Prague.
I have seen so many films lately its awesome! Yesterday I saw 5 and Saturday I saw about 10. There is an international film festival in Prague this week called One World. Some of the films are so depressing but it is interesting to here what is going on in the rest of the world. They also showed the films that were up for best documentary at the Oscars on Saturday night till 3am. I didn't stay the whole time though.

The film that hit me the most was called "Coca - The dove from Chechnya". It was so heavy the whole time. It was about the murders that are happening in Chechnya and the conflicts. The film documents strong women trying to get human rights for the people. The main woman has been smuggling tapes and pictures out of the country to try and document what is happening so the world can see what is happening and so that people can help. People and families are getting murdered brutally there or getting killed and mutilated from the bombs. It was so sad to see what is happening there and amazed me how oblivious I used to be of the

rest of the world. Not that I completely understand now but I feel a little less ignorant. The day after seeing this I went to Terezin and the weekend before I was in Auschwitz. I feel I have been partly desensitized to seeing people suffering and skinny dead bodies. In the film "Coca" the camera is not afraid to get right into the face of a dead mutilated body. Some were raped before they were killed or had their ears and parts of the face town off. These people are like animals. Some of the footage even came from some of the soldiers pushing people around. It is like a game to them. It was a great film to see and there were many others that were very powerful and informative of what life is like in other parts of the world (though its so sad how many people are suffering).

There were also some funny advertisements. People seem to care more about the environment here. For example in one of them there are people running around with boxes trying to catch polluted air. They are all comical to get the point across.
