Prague
Beautiful view across the river Vltava and Charles Bridge, the incredible Prague castle in the background Overnight in Munich, it was one of the rare occasions that we only stopped for a single night, today we moved on to Prague - Czech Republic. We again packed up our gear then boarded the coach on the way to Prague, it was a few hours before we reached the city centre. Billy pulled over while we performed another flawless parachute drop and we began our brief guide of the city with Jamie. The city was beautiful, cobbled streets everywhere lead into the amazing bridges that crossed the river Vitava, the architecture was simply breathtaking. Up on the hill in the distance we could see castle Prague, the largest castle in the world, it’s gothic figure shadowed over the city below. We made our to one of the most impressive bridges in Prague which crossed the river Vitava, called ‘Charles Bridge’. This gothic bridge was stunning, dozens of small market stalls lined either side and there were people everywhere. Jamie gave us a little time to quickly have a look, walk across then head back, it was beautiful.
Jamie continued to lead us around the fantastic city of Prague, pointing out the various tourist attractions we could visit on
Prague
Amazing view of the largest ancient castle in the world, Prague Castle our free day tomorrow. In particular, the astronomical clock, the old/new synagogue and various museums scattered around the city. He also showed us where the group was having a massive night tomorrow night and to get ready for some serious drinking. Eventually we finished at the National Museum, and caught public transport to the campsite so we knew how to get back. However after a long tram ride and very long walk through the suburbs of Prague, it took us long over an hour to get there. We arrived to find a plain field, with barely any facilities. Since most of the group desperately needed to do laundry at this stage it was the first thing we brought up and guess what? No drier and only one washing machine, it’s as starting to get extremely frustrating as Jamie continue to promise the next camp site had great facilities, when he actually had no idea. Eventually Billy arrived we were shown our section of the field and we setup our tents. I headed towards the bathroom to find that the showers were all open, no privacy whatsoever and the toilets were disgusting, this is when I had had enough. The campsite
Prague
The Old Town Square with astronomical clock to the left, on a busy day in Prague is Prague felt like we were in prison, eventually the whole group was getting frustrated and that’s when Jamie sat us down and told us tough shit, stop complaining. The one saving grace in this place is that there was a bar serving cold, yet expensive beer.
Gavo began on dinner and again outdid himself with some fantastic food. Tonight the majority of the group were staying at the camp site this evening and having a quiet one, however the gap students were going to hit the town. A group of us sat around a table with drinks and playing cards, more and more people joined in. It wasn’t until the clock approached midnight that the gappies left for a night out but even at that time a few more decided not to bother. The rest of us drank and played card into the night and after everyone was fed we went to sleep.
