The 73k long Kyka river water has created a canyon through limestone hills bringing calcium carbonate with it which over thousands of years was trapped in plant roots eventually forming barriers over which spectacular stepped waterfalls flow.

Our trip along the river started from the park entrance at the town of Skradin with a boat ride to the largest set of falls, 800m long Skradinski Buk through which a dramatic set of paths, board walks and bridges enabled us to get really close to the water as it weaved through a myriad of channels chocked with vegetation. Then it was a further boat over Lake Visovac with the island Franciscan Monastery of Samostan, through the dramatic Medu Gredama gorge to another fall, Roski Slap. We had a walk around Roski Slap before retracing our steps.

A brilliant day in a beautiful location.
