Split is located on the shores of the Adriatic and so after a month of travelling through central Europe we saw the sea for the first time since we left Calais.
We went into the city and had a happy day wandering around Diocletian’s Palace, one of the most imposing Roman ruins in existence. It is a walled quarter which remains the living heart of Split containing a labyrinthine of streets with several interesting things to see and enjoy.
