Thursday 11th June
Got up and got bikes ready to go to Supermarket - Steve had a flat tyre - new inner tube had a faulty valve so we had to walk the bikes in to town - the supermarket on camp was closed for some reason - a reason which became apparent when going to all the other supermarkets in town - who were also shut ! Someone is conspiring against us saving any money. We then saw a gathering of people singing hymns and it turns out today is a national holiday in Croatia for Corpus Christi - for those non catholics amongst us that is a mass and a ceremonial procession. where the attendants carry the body of Christ. The procession has four stations at which they announce the gospels at four ends of the globe. Corpus Christi is a feast day of unity between man and God. It reminds us of Saint Paul’s message that in Christ, there are no racial, ethnic or religious divisions amongst people. Problem is no beers from the supermarket - how will Steve cope. Spend the day chilling on the tent and popping onto the beach for a couple of beers . Steve tried to fix his inner tube with a puncture repair kit we had , but had no glue so asked tent across for some - not sure UHU will work though . He managed to fix the other inner tube but the fellow in the tent across couldn’t help getting involved in pumping it up- he cant spend 5 minutes sitting down before he starts another job. He also gave Steve a piece of paper with Baskaman winner 2009 on which Steve doesn’t understand but said Ja and put it it in his pocket ( this saga continues tomorrow!) -
The german Austrian men opposite and side on are all out in their speedos nicht gut when one of them is about 70 and has them pulled up to his armpits - Wheres the talent ?
Went out for tea where the waiter spoke very good English but tried to up sell the most expensive thing on his menu as his recommendation - not likely , back to tent to find that it has suddenly got very windy - will the awning survive? - tightened all the guy ropes and hope for the best. Also a bit of thunder and lightining in the distance but no real rain.

Friday 12th June
The tent has survived - a little cloudy this morning but yesterday was ridiculously hot ev en at 8am so this is much better. Chilled out before making our way into town on the bikes - cycled right to the other end of the promenade and up a hill to gain a good view back on the town and stumbled across a lovely cove with a café- Steve wanted a coffee but then on closer inspection of the people around the cove and campsite it was clear that this was the naturist area so we doubled back and sat on the seafront for a coffee instead. Passed Baskaman in a café who was escaping his wife and sister in law who have not stopped gabbing since she arrived. Supermarkets open today so emptied them of booze and from a ream of Croatian discovered that we also get returns if bottles are brought back to the shop. Sat outside tent/beach view for the afternoon reading and watching Baskaman at work. When Steve went to shop for more beer , Mrs Baskaman popped over with a piece of paper - guess what was on it - Baska man Vinner 2009 and on the other side Baskaman Winner 2009 - they were trying to ask if winner started with a V or a W - something about a T shirt ( maybe we will discover more tomorrow!!!!!) Barbque at the tent tonight and we have come to the conclusion that we have to go to bed at 11pm as by 7am the tent is roasting so we have to get up . So watched a few more of Henry VIII frolics before retiring - not as much wind tonight .
