Day 1; Split
Number of pax for dinner; 12 (free dinner on boat)
The waves were so strong that we couldn't leave Split today. But we had a good day nonetheless; we walked up to Marjan hill and had about a 3-hr hike. That night, Rato at Red Room was absolutely fantastic; his bar was booked for a private function, so he went to the other bars nearby to organize deals and make sure we were taken care of. Great guy!
Day 2; Makarska
Number of pax for dinner; 12 (at Susvid)
We decided to skip Omis so we could get back on track with our itinerary (no one really minded). Dinner that night was good, however no one was really up for a big night afterwards so we had only one drink at Marineta and then went home.
Day 3; Bol/Jelsa
Number of pax for dinner; (everyone grabbed snacks to eat on the boat)
We stopped at Zlatni Rat for a couple of hours, then carried on to Jelsa. A bunch of pax rented scooters, and had a fantastic time riding out to a cute little beach town. The ride took an hour, and the
scooters cost 50 kuna per person. (What is our official line on scooters,by the way?)
We had dinner and drinks on the boat and I must say that the crew on the Javorak are really terrific. They let pax use the dishes and cutlery and brought us fresh sardines they'd caught and olives. I love the Javorak.
Day 4; Hvar
Number of pax for dinner; 12 (picnic)
One of the girls and I both got terrible haircuts when we arrived in Hvar, but that didn't stop us from having a fab night. The picnic was great (always one of everyone's favourite activities), Carpe Diem was fun, Kiva Bar and Sasa were legendary as usual, and a few of us ended the night at Veneranda Club, which was quite fun. On a side note, my official favourite Croatian boyfriend also lives in Hvar (but that's a story to be told later over drinks, not in this tour report) 😉
Day 5; Korcula
Number of pax for dinner; 0 (no one was in the mood for pizza)
We had dinner at a restaurant between the port and the old town. The food was really hit and miss
but there was a live band and the manager let me eat/drink for free. I have his contact details if anyone wants to give it a try.
We had real problems that night with the port where we docked. The road leading to it is very dark and isolated and there were about 5 guys hanging around being suspicious. I walked home alone that night from Dos Locos and they followed me and I felt quite nervous, and then my pax woke me up at 2am, because the guys were shooting at them with a bb gun. I think they actually hit one of the girls on another boat. I really don't trust that port anymore, and no girls should be allowed to walk back there alone.
Day 6; Mljet/Sipan
Number of pax for dinner; 8 (Captain's dinner)
I honestly think that paying 90 kuna for the National Park in Mljet is a serious rip-off because the lakes are pretty, but not prettier than the Adriatic which we're on 24 hours a day for free. I've been trying to find other stuff to do there because I think Mljet has the potential to be a great place
for fun activities, like kayaking and waterskiing and scooter-riding. I got the contact details for the guy who runs banana boat/tubing/waterskiing tours. I know our stance on organizing activities and the complications involved (i.e. Omis rafting), but are we allowed to at least point pax in the right direction, because they're all so keen to do more fun activities?
We spent the night in Sipan, and let me reiterate how much I loooooove Sipan. Captain's dinner there was great; the Javorak really knows how to make everyone happy. Then we had another great night at the random dungeon bar, until some local jerk kicked one of the cats into the sea and one of my pax had to fish it out, poor thing.
Day 7; Dubrovnik
Number of pax for dinner; 0 (we all went kayaking instead)
Today we set out to prove that it's possible to do the wall-walk AND go kayaking, and it was a major success! I contacted Tammy that morning to set it up, and she offered us a reduced rate pf 240 kuna per pax. We got into Dubrovnik at 11, had lunch at 12, were on the walls from 1 -
2:30, then did the kayaking from 4-8. It was a full day but everyone was so rejuvenated and energetic and really happy they did it. It's easiest to do it on the one-way sail, of course, because pax have time to explore town the next day, but I can't recommend that trip highly enough. The guides are great, Lokrum Island is lovely, cliff-jumping is really fun and the views, particularly at sunset, are some of the most stunning of the whole trip. And Tammy is very keen to work with us and set up tours especially for us.
The guys at Mirage were great to us that night by bringing out extra tables and chairs just for us. Only a few went to Fuego afterwards because the rest were a little creeped out by it (the Brit Lapthorne connection is going to kill that place).
