Apart from taking a trip into Dubrovnik itself on one day for a few hours we just plan to blob out here and the apartment and hotel set up should do us just nicely.
It is nice being able to get a full breakfast and this morning Gretchen made her favourite poached eggs only to find that she didn't have a utensil to get the eggs out of the pan.A large spoon had to suffice in the end.You have to break the eggs to eat them anyway I say.
Breakfast was on our terrace and with nowhere to go for the day other than the shop for some lunch and dinner,it was a leisurely affair.
It is another beautiful day and if we are to do a short walk we will make it before lunch and get everything including our shopping out of the way in one go.
Time off sightseeing gives us time to catch up on emails, banking and looking for some forward accommodation on the internet.
Before the real heat of the day arrives after lunch we set off for a walk to the shop via the beach. It was a pleasant stroll down through trees to the stony beach
which is in a very protected bay.
The water is crystal clear helped by the fact that there is little or no run off from the land and also the beach being stony rather than sandy. There are quite a few people in swimming and the sea temperature is quite warm.Neither of us are really in to swimming in the sea but it is nice to go down to it and watch other people and dip ones toes.
There are a couple of small cafes at the beach and surprisingly, because we didn't notice it until we got down to the beach, three or four deserted buildings which look like they were damaged by the war.
The hills or mountains that tower up behind the bay are a very impressive sight and quite imposing. They become extremely steep with very little vegetation about half way up.Somewhere up there is the border with B-H.Croatia has a very long coastline of nearly 600km but for much of the distance it is just a narrow coastal strip.
A little further on as we walk around to where the bay opens out to the sea we got a better view of the large hotel that we can see partially from our terrace that was also damaged by the war and lies deserted, basically a shell.
The shop is not that well endowed with groceries but we find chicken for dinner tonight and also top up the beer supplies.
We also got bread, cheese and gerkins for lunch which we had sitting at a table under the trees at the back of the hotel up a small hillside. The cold beer went down a treat!!
We just blobbed the rest of the afternoon and once the sun had gone off the terrace a bit we sat out again and enjoyed a cold beer and watched the traffic to and from Dubrovnik and the airport.
Gretchen cooked the chicken breast with garlic and we had dinner as the sun set in the west over the hills that surround the bay we are in.
Another blob out day tomorrow we think.
