Brussels Day 1 - Team Final

Last night I had flown to London and stayed at Sarahs in order to catch the eurostar to Brussels. Ben flew direct from Edinburgh yesterday arvo after skiving off from work for another day! What a drama – lost his phone turns out in the taxi but he had no idea where so my fri arvo was spent tracking it down and track it down I did!! So picked it up on the way to the airport which was handy. Love Edinburgh and their friendly people. Got completely lost getting to sarahs place and had a dead battery on my phone so couldn’t google map, no taxis would stop for me – awesome! Then as ben lovingly points out to me “why didn’t you just use my phone?!” Very good point! Anywho we were all ok and the next am Katie and I headed to St Pancreas station and boarded our train to Brussels. It wasn’t as flash as I had expected actually but was fast ad we got to Brussels in 2 hours! Met ben at the train station and hopped in a cab to get to our hotel. Our taxi driver had no idea where we were going and used a road map instead of the nav man sitting right infront of his face and still managed to get completely lost. So once he realised we were lost he then used his nav man. Even using this ben had to direct him where to go using his google maps on his phone! Awesome! But got there eventually, had a very rude blatent man tell us we couldn’t check in till 2 and the gym started at 2 so we dumped our stuff, grabbed a jacket cos I had been so excited it was gonna be nice weather I hadn’t anticipated for a really cold wind!

We decided to walk in the direction of the Expo centre and find some Belgium delicacies for lunch – namingly fruit beer, waffles, frites and chocolate! So for lunch we found sum meat brochettes yuuuuum, fruit beer and frites all consumed sitting in the Belgium sun J All full up we, very excitedly (well me and Katie) headed to the expo centre to watch some gym! And it was amazing!! The Romanians were incredible coming out on top and the Russians pulled together some awesome bar routines securing 2^nd and the Italians came 3^rd! Surprisingly but they really looked good! And ben loved it which was great! But it was just ridiculously efficient! Like too efficient!!! The whole team comp was over in 1.5 hours!! Blink and ul miss it! So was a little confusing for ben the first day cos was just all happening so fast!!!

So, we headed back to the same restaurant we had lunch at, buzzing, for some more fruit beer and waffles for a post gym feed! Analysed and answered ben’s many questions! We just chilled out in the sun for a few hours and then wandered back to the hotel, checked in, showered and headed out for dinner! Its all about the food this weekend! There was literally only one restaurant near our hotel cos we were staying out by the gym so we went there and it was bustling! Great steaks, great service with a really funny dude serving us! Katie and I were buggered after our extremely early flight so after we had been eating all day we headed back to the hotel for bed. Was a full on but great 1^st day in Brussels!
