Cemetery
This cemetery i the only thing that the ski jumpers can see below them when they are going to go down the jump So Yesterday was a blast and an adventure in more ways than one. Once I got up and decided to get out of bed I realized that it was about 6:30 in the morning, jet lag sucks. I went outside saw the beautiful mountains again and decided to go for a walk. An hour later and a few more mountain surveyed I got back to the Panorama and tried to find some people to eat breakfast with. I found Aaron or rather he found me sitting on my computer and we left to go try and scrap something up. A funny little fact you should know if you are every over here, almost everything is closed on Sundays so it is not a good idea to start walking into town to find food; we did it anyways though because we didn’t know. I, Aaron, and two girls we know met up at the tennis club down the street and started walking to the bus station. The girls had wanted to go running after they ate but since they couldn’t find any food either we all decided to walk and just head into town. Well we got lost going through the
residential district a couple of times but we eventually made it out and right into old town of Innsbruck where some of the best cafes are. WE sat down at one and all started to look at the menu. I of course went to the section of the cheapest items that I could and found one that caught my fancy, toasted bread with mozzarella cheese and fresh tomatoes. IT was one of the best and richest things I have ever eaten. The tomatoes were so juicy and sweet and the mozzarella warm and gooey. I loved it and it went great with the glass of stiegl beer I had. Once we had eaten we had to walk all the way back to the panorama but we did and then all collapsed and took a nap.
In the afternoon yesterday we went on a bus tour all around Innsbruck that was really amazing. All of the pictures today are from the tour mostly from when we were walking around some of the historic district. The tour took us up a mountain to see the ski slope and down around a couple very interesting churches. Once we got off the
The Yard Beers
This is my, Laki's, and Aaron's beer on the bar in Papa Joes bus and started to walk around we really got a better appreciation of what Innsbruck is like and the history of it. I really enjoyed the dinner the school treated us to also with a plate full of ribs and homemade sauerkraut. Then we got back on the buses and rode back to the panorama where my roommate Laki was waiting for outside the door.
Once he got into the room and settled we immediately went and got a bus to go downtown to the bars. We started at the Limrick Bills Irish Pub. It’s a really cool little pub the only problem is how hot it gets in it. Te Pub is nice but no really big groups could be there unless everyone knew everyone just because of the space issues. We all decided then that we wanted to go on an adventure and try and find another bar. SO we did and after ending back up in the same place twice Laki put his nose in the air and smelled for beer. HE found it and were had arrived at Pap Joes. It’s a really cool little bar/restaurant with almost a Margaretville theme. We went to
the bar and saw what we had come to Europe to Try, Yard Beers. So we each got one and started to drink them and be jovial. We started to talk to a guy at the bar and found out he was from Switzerland. He started telling us about Innsbruck and where the local places where to eat and drink and then bought us another round of yard beers.
It ended up that by the end of the night we had made a great friend in a random bar in Austria and he had bought us each three yard beers. It was amazingly fun and when we started to leave he called us over and told us to follow him to this great little restaurant so we did. It was so good me and Laki split a personal pan pizza with ham, olives, and everything else amazing. Then we ended our night with a cab ride home that because of a language barrier almost ended up with us at another sandwich shop. All in all though yesterday was an amazing day that was a ton of fun and a great memory.
