"Now we went to an island that has a beach. We took a boat there. We went to the beach and we ate lunch there. It was really fun." Sofia Journal Entry October 27, 2012

Our final day in Panama city was supposed to be a boat/canoe ride to a small Indian village. I was really looking forward to it as we were going to see music, dancing, crafts, and I was going to be painted with something that looks like a tattoo for 2 weeks. However, due to the demonstrations, the tour guide called us and thought it was best to cancel it due to safety concerns. So after talking to the hotel staff and other people staying at the hostel, we decided to do a day trip to an island nearby.

After a good pancake breakfast at the hostel, we took a cab to the marina. Then it was less than an hour boat ride to Isla Taboga. It was a fun boat ride. When we arrived we took a very short walk to the beach. I really liked the beach as it was pretty small, beautiful sand, and clear water. I had so much fun playing

with daddy and Vitor. I made sand castles and I rode daddy as we chased Vitor in the water. Then we had fun jumping for daddy to take the picture. We could see Panama City in the distance. We had a great few hours on the beach.

Then it was a short walk to the main area of the very small town. We had an absolutely delicious lunch...fish of course. Our table was right over the water and we could see fish while we were eating.

We took the late afternoon boat back to Panama City. We relaxed at the hostel and ate with our new friends. We played a lot more games of hangman. But, at about 1100pm we took off for the airport as we had a flight at 100am. I slept for most of the ride to the airport, at the airport and the short 2.5 hour flight back to Miami. Unlike the trip to El Salvador, this time we did not have to go right from the airport to school as we had the entire day to relax. I had a great time taking Vitor with us and Daddy promised that we would take him on 1 short weekend trip each year.

I was looking forward to our next trip, to Los Angeles over Thanksgiving to visit friends and relatives. Daddy said that we were going to go somewhere for Spring Break but not sure yet. I am already looking forward to our summer trip.....Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Singpore
