Today is now my third time back in David. Not because it is a wonderful place to vis¡t, but it is right in the middle of a bunch of other places. I went and visited Isla Boca Brava. I slept three nights in a hammock in a termite eaten shed that I shared with an Italian guy named Cloudeo (good guy). The island was really quiet, but I was lucky enough to meet some cool people to hang out with. We went on a snorkelling tour out in the marine park. The best I´ve seen so far. The beach there also was one of the prettiest I´ve seen in my life. I ended back in David for a night. I happened to run into a friend I met in Panama city and we headed up to the chilly mountain town of Boquete. Boquete is at around 2000 meters so it gets cold there. Last night it was probably 45. It felt like hanging out in Bellingham. Tom and I hiked up to the top of Volcan Barú. The highest mountain in Panama. It was 15k each way. 5 a half hours straight up, then 4 hours straight down. Coming down was the hardest part because The road is graveled with loose rocks. So every step you take you end up sliding. I´m still soar today. Nonetheless It was a good way to spend the day. And I needed the excersise. We stayed for three nights in a hostel called Palacio. The owner could be the friendliest most energetic person I´ve met in my life. To the point of being nutty. But alot of fun to joke around with. His names Pancho. He speaks fluent and rapid spanglish. Everything he says comes out half in English and half in Spanish on a word per word basis. Tonight will be my fourth night all together staying in the Purple House, the only hostel in David. There is absolutely nothing to see in David, aside from a few whorehouses and casinos. But the hostel is so comfortable that its not a bad place to spend the night between destinations. It reminds me of being a kid and spending the night at a friends house. Especially because the lady that runs it, an American expat, has a bunch of silly little rules. But in turn she has a really clean and comfortable hostel. I originally

was heading toward Costa Rica but plans have changed. Carnival is coming up on friday and Panama takes it more seriously than any other country in C.A. Pretty much any city has a good celebration but Las Tablas, according to everybody, has the best. It´s a bit of a back-track but it will be worth it. Las Tablas is in the Los Santos province on the Azuero Peninsula, Which is the large bulge on the south side of the country. Tom and I are heading to a town about an hour south of Las Tablas called Pedasí. We have reservations through thursday but after that all of the hotels in the entire province are booked. I was lucky enough though, to meet a guy who has a house there, who says we can crash on his floor. Thats all for now.

The clouds constantly cover these hill no matter the season. Boquete has a fine mist constantly falling on it. But just 1k down the road its hot and dry. You are able to see both climates in this shot.
