A quick 3 hours flight got us here to paradise. Old school was the name of the game on our AA flight. We had the window and the middle seat but next to us was a man , late 60's I supose dressed in a suit , tie and hat and sat politely in his seat with his overcoat in his lap never removing his hat. On arrival we boarded a bus to our destination Sandals whitehouse. The 1-1 1/2 hour drive quickly turned to 2 . But enroute we passed many houses ,some big, some small and all brightly painted. Some grand, some crumbling , however all one next to another with little difference between rich and poor. After meeting our friends we settled on a seafood dinner at the resort and ended our evening exchanging stories at the bar. Today we have yet to discover our resort as we set out early to explore the island some more. We drove thru the countryside to a remote beach littered with boats, one of which would take us to the Pelican Bar, a stilted restaurant in the middle of the sea to eat freshly caught fish prepared local style. Our dishes of grilled fish and lobster stir fry, served with rice were delishious. After, we enjoyed the sea, surf and sand. One stop in town found us the novelty of the day as the locals enjoyed the town center with shopping and a DJ , who had speakers as high as a story. There Beverly, who wanted a CD of local music was shopping inside of a car filled with boxes of CD's. Back at the resort the staff had prepared a excellent evening of local music performed live and a holiday meal of turkey and Ham. We ended the evening with a drink by the bonfire . Oh the traditions here, I could get used to this 😊
