This group was awesome!! So gifted & humble. They led amazing worship! 1/19/08
So 2 days ago was officially the coldest day I have ever experienced...& the same has been true for each day that follows. In some parts of MN it got down to -40 F!! That is just insane!!! Now I absolutely can't wait for Belize & Jamaica in a couple of weeks!!
About a week ago I got back from Belize. We had an amazing trip in Bermudian Landing...a village that I have become so close with! Sister Dahlia & Pastor Floyd & their 2 precious daughters; Micracle & Abigail, and of course Melissa. It was a rather 'rough' trip because we slept on the floor & had NO running water. So, we washed either in the river or with a bucket of water, & we flushed the toilet by pouring a bucket of water to flush. But it was an incredible week!! We served in a different village each day. The group from PA was so gifted & really made an impression on each village. By the end of the week everyone was singing 'Making Memories In My Heart' and 'Yes I LOVE MY JESUS!' You have to check out the video I posted of a
Oswald...Belize
What a cutie!! And I LOVE his name!! He was a tiny little thing...sat on my lap while we watched the games go on. little girl singing...precious!!
Now I'm back in MN. I guess I've enjoyed being here in MN during the heart of the winter. At least the coldest days are past (hopefully) & it will only get better. A couple weekends ago my friend Cassie & I went & walked on our frozen lake in our backyard & made snow angels. We've had some record breaking cold days here. Please remind me again why I'm living here??
Several weeks later....
Lots going on lately with work, traveling & getting prepared to travel! I leave for Belize on Sat for trip set up & then go directly to Jamaica for trip set up & then my mom is meeting me in Jamaica for her birthday vacation!! Can't wait!
Lots of things have been on my mind lately. I've been looking in to some grad schools, been thinking about living abroad (as long as it would work with my job) & so on. As much as I like being in the states because of my friends & family, etc., I really miss being abroad. And I don't just mean for a vacation...but to actually live. It's a completely
MoBay
This is a view from one of the church's will be serving with. different experience when you are living among the local people & totally emerse yourself in the culture, you'll never experience that when only visiting for a few days. So, I don't know....we'll see where God leads me.
And another several weeks later...
So, I've returned from Belize & Jamica (& several other countries but that will be in my next entry). It was great to be back in Belize & this time with all of the other trip leaders. We had SO much to cover (since we have about 1500 people coming to Belize this year!!). Basically, we split up in groups of 2 & spread out all over the country. Christopher & I headed down south to set up the trips that will be there. After we all finished our trip set up we headed to San Pedro, Ambergis Caye. I didn't think I'd like it very much because I've heard it's really touristy, but I loved it. It had cobble stone streets, tons of restaurants, & we stayed in a really nice hotel right on the beach with one of the biggest pools I've ever swam in. "La Isla Bonita...." yep, Madonna is talking about
San Pedro.
It's Jamaica Time...
Then, Jennie & I headed straight to Jamaica to meet Matt & do trip set up there. Oh my gosh, I absoultely LOVE Jamaica. It exceeded my expectations by far!!! It is such a beautiful country, amazing food, wonderful people, so much culture, mountains, ocean, it's developed but still a developing country. It has something for everyone! The driving is CRAZY!!! People drive like maniacs...but of course I happen to get 1 ticket & pulled over another time which I fortunately was able to talk my way out of a ticket when I was later with my mom. Anyway, the 3 of us tackled the entire country, driving on the left side of the road with the wheel on the right side of the car...british style...I like it. We started out in MoBay, meeting with lots of churches & Reverends there. By the way, the churches are incredible there, very organized, functioning & actually flourishing! Then we headed east to Ocho Rios, down south to Kingston & out west to Nigril to finish off the week with a day on the beach. On our way out west we happened to drive by
Oh the irony of Jamaica
This picture really captures how crazy Jamaica is...a huge cruise ship in the background with a tiny fishing boat directly in front. TIJ....This Is Jamaica...
Ocho Rios. this adorable town called Blue Fields (more later).
Then when we finished trip set up we went back to MoBay & I picked up my Mommy Bear! It was her birthday & we got to celebrate it in Jamaica together!!! We rented a car & headed straight to Ocho Rios. We went to Dunn's River Falls & we climbed up the water fall. It was so fun & quite challenging I must say. Then we headed to Nigril where we spent a couple of days relaxing on the beach & celebrated my mom's bday. We stayed in a cute cottage right on the beach. Then we headed to Blue Fields that I told you about earlier. Amazing!!! Tourists don't go there, it's like this hidden, tranquil, cute, sleepy beach town. We got a room RIGHT on the ocean, I'm talking like 6 ft from it. It was SO relaxing. Not much to do...walked to this little hole in the wall & ordered fish soup served in a plastic cup. Then we headed to MoBay to spend the night at our favorite place out of them all...Brandon Hill. It's up on a moutain & overlooks MoBay & the ocean.
Birthday Night
We ate at a cute restaurant along the beach in Nigril to celebrate my mom's bday. Beautiful grounds, with birds, flowers, etc. Loved it. It was a wonderful time with my mom. We got to drive all over the country, we ate jerk off the side of the road almost every day, my mom loved the patties. It was just really good to hang out & be together. We are starting to travel together more & more & I love it!!!

So now it's March...you know, suppose to be getting close to spring....but no...not here in MN....the cold is still plugging away with no end in sight. When I flew in the other day it was 9 degrees F! When will the cold stop?? Everything is still white from the snow. Now I'm ready for the cold to be over. Even though I can't really complain because I haven't been here for much of it. But I've experienced all of the cold I want to. Ready for the spring.
Can't wait to tell you about my next trip (which I just go back from) & my travels that are coming up......stay tuned😊 Lot's to be thankful for. Keep on keepin on...
