After we dropped team 2 off at the airport we stopped for lunch in San Pedro Sula at a Pizza Hut. Afterwards Jose and I were waiting for Elmer at the bus and we met this man who told us amazing stories about his struggles in Cuba and his escape. He had just landed in Honduras after spending nearly two weeks on the ocean in a handmade raft with twelve other men. One of the men didn't make it through the trip. He died of dehydration and from drinking the salt water. This man drank his own urine for days after the water supply ran out. We gave him our leftover food and some water and wished him well. I was the first American he had ever seen in his lifetime he claimed. I was amazed. Jose translated the stories for me. We both felt like our struggles in life were meager compared to his.
