ROSA JAMAICA IS ITS NAME.
The flower you saw at the market it´s called ´rosa jamaica¨, it is used to make a delicious red beverage, which is very refreshing, you just ask for rosa jamaica at taquerias or restaurants, if they have it. Santiago has always been very primitive, as a history remark, when the spanish conquistadors got there, the tzutuhil tribe which are people of Santiago and San Pedro were at war against the cackchiquels tribe, which are the people of Pana and surrounding villages they made an alliance with the spanish to defeat the tzutuhils. when the tzutuhils saw themselves outnumber, they all flee to the volcanoes, many of them died of starvation, but they were not conquered like other tribes, the catholic religion did a better job in trying to civilized them.
