Pete decided not to go with us. We rented a 4 wheel Susuki for a week. We went on the West side of the island,through the Carrenage, down the tunnel, and away we went. Downtown by the Carrenage, the streets are 1 way, we kind of got a lost, but then found our way, whew...On the way to Gueyave, some of the road was washed out, detours, and of course we went the wrong way, to end up in a dirt road, so we then knew we had made a wrong turn. Of course there is no signs, very few...
We found the Concorde falls, they are putting in a dam on the other side, not sure how that is going to work. On the way there, this very narrow road, we found some of the most amazing foliage and fruits. That was on Sunday. We also found some vendors by the falls. We found coral bracelets, fascinating how they make them, I always thought coral was so fragile. As I said on the way to the falls, we saw the abundance of fruit. We stopped several times to sample. There was Hot plum, Cocoa, Guavas, Bread Fruit, bananas, nutmeg, was glad to see those trees are coming back after the hurricane of 2004, Ivan. Limes, callaloo, cabbage, tomatoes, you name it we saw it.
We went through the North of the island, through Victoria, all the restaurants were closed on Sunday, we thought we were going to starve.
Finally found a tiny store open, we made lunch out of ice cream, candy bars, and crackers. Better not tell the grandkids about this, all we could find.
Pete is done with the big projects on Paper Moon. The outboard has been giving him a fit. We were out on it, yesterday afternoon, of course we forgot the handheld, when it started being hot. It had quit cooling. Jeris and I raised a Tshirt, to make it into a sail, and Pete and Tom used the oars. M saw a dinghy, and started waiving her arms. They came over and towed us the rest of the way. There is
