Hi everyone! First, I´ll wish everyone a Merry Christmas, just in case (1) I have no internet access tomorrow and (2) some people don´t read all the way to the end of my blogs :) So, Merry Christmas/feliz navidad to you and your families! On Saturday I tried to stay up all night, but without any luck - I was dozing in a hammock, so I laid down for a few minutes sleep. I woke at about 2:45 and showered, packed, and was almost ready when the cab driver arrived. There were two other guys in the same cab, which was nice because we only paid $15 each instead of the $30 if it had been just me. They were Canadians too! We found that Tortuga Surf Lodge was a great choice. We met the owner Roberto last night who was a very interesting and friendly guy. As you would expect he is surfing mad but after having a few beers with him and watching him in a surf video we realized there was more to him than just surfing. He explained the whole history both political and geographical and it was obvious this place was run more out of love of surfing than a business venture. For a tiny country El Salvador has about 10 murders per day (mostly gang related) which makes it one of the most violent countries in the world. Day Six - Sunday September 24th This was the day that M's aunt and uncle were going to take us to some ruins. Throughout the night I would get up to be sick, but I was feeling better and I'd be DAMNED if I missed the ruins!! I wasn't feverish and was able to stand on my own two feet, so come morning I proclaimed I was well enough to look at some old stuff! I must say that I was still feeling sick and running for the bathroom often, drinking shitloads of water and if I'd been home I wouldn't have gone to work. But I wasn't home.
