Exploring Trinidad, a stop over in Cammaguay and on to Santiago de Cuba Leaving behind a vibrant city like Havana was sad and inevitable, but nonetheless we picked up our little Kia rental car and made our way south and east. Driving in this island nation isn’t challenging from automobile traffic standpoint, but rather from keeping an eye on everything else, like horse carts, hitchhikers, ... Read Full Entry

Cuba
What a trip you've had!!! Are you headed home now? And, where is that? I'm might be as sad as you are with the end of your current travels since I've looked forward to each blog posting. But, I know there is more travel in your future so I'll look forward to future posts. We leave next Sunday. First two days in Honolulu then on to Saigon, Cambodia, Burma and Bangkok. We are traveling by boat from Saigon to Phnom Penh (a four day trip on the Mekong) which will give us time in the very small river towns along the way. (Two years ago we did a two day trip on the Upper Mekong from Luang Prabong in Laos to a town the name of which I can't remember that is right at the intersection of Laos, Thailand and Burma which we enjoyed a lot). Then we will fly between Cambodia and Yangon (via Bangkok where we change planes) then after 5 days in Yangon we fly to Bagan for a few days. Then another boat ride(only one day) to Mandalay were we stay for 4 or 5 days. Then back to Bangkok for a few days before flying home. Whew....fast and furious. I will email you when we get back and tell you about our experiences. Keep me posted on where you settle in the US. Love, Sonja

Hello dear friends,
Great hearing from you before you take off on your trip. We have had a wonderful trip. Re-entry is going slow. We do not know where we will end up living-- we are working on that now. We won't be doing any world travel right for a little while. Your trip sounds great. We will eagerly await all the details. We are hoping that we can meet up with you some place this year. Let us know if that is a possibility. Thanks for keeping in touch.

You planted a seed....
....in my wanderluster's heart. Tell me, how can I, a U.S. citizen get to see Cuba without going through an organized tour? Is it possible?

Yes, it is possible
You need to obtain a people to people visa.
