The last two weeks for me have been very busy. the last week of my second spanish class was last week and i had project after project and test after test.the weekend before that though was awesome. i went with one other girl to la fortuna costa rica. we stayed at a hostel where we could see the arenal volcano from. it was by far my favorite weekend. the other girl i went with doesnt speak like any spanish so it was good for me cause i had to speak twice as much to cover for both of us.when we went to by the bus tickets we didnt have enough on hand to buy tickets and pay for a taxi without stopping at this really shady atm so we decided to walk which doesnt take long to get downtown but the fact that addresses are based in meters off of streets is hard enough wtih my lack of sense of direction and the fact that they dont label street names here only adds to the confusion. so we were told it was 50 m after avenida 12 and calle 4. so it took us forever to find it and the bus

la fortuna waterfall station is in a really sketch part of town where if you wander around like a lost tourist you are asking for problems so we wandered around tryign to figure it out in the not so scary part of town.we were lost on this corner and this guy just asks are you guys lost. and we said yes how can you tell. so he was really nice and took us to where we had to go except it ended up being a brothel. we had to pay a hostel in san jose to stay overnight in arenal (confusing but yeah) and they disguise hostels down here as brothels so we walked in and im just like oh is this hostel so and so and i turn to see a bunch of girls lined up on couches and guys making a line down the hallway waiting to rent a "room". so we left quickly. to make a long story short we found the bus station so that was relief. the next morning we took the bus to arenal.that night we went to a discoteca. the next morning we got up and went horseback riding. when we got there they tried to

brianna and i at the hostel take us through a butterfly like garden which i couldnt do cause they scare me and the guy i thought i was crazy but oh well. then we rode horses for like an hour up through the jungle then hiked down for like a half hour to la fortuna waterfall where we swam. it was the most beautiful thing ive seen in my life.and when i went to go take some pictures i realized i had a camera minus the battery so that was nice. so i put up some pics just that i found on the website that match what i saw.then we hiked back up through the jungle and rode the horses back down again. it was realy scary cause i havent rode horses that much and the other girl had and obviously the guide and they start running and im just like hanging on for dear life i really thought i was going to die at one point. but i survived....barely. then we went and got some food and that night we went to baldi hot springs. which is a place with like 25 pools of natural hot springs ranging from 104-152 fahrenheit. they are like natural
jacuzzis and we hung out there for 3 hours at night just relaxing. then that night we went to the discoteca again and some guy taught me well tried to teach me to salsa...that was interesting but it was fun.they are so good at dancing that they can make you look like you know what you are doing even when you dont which is cool. the next day we left and i had my terrible week at school. but this last weekend was awesome. it was extra long cause i didnt go to school on monday cause we dont have spanish classes the first monday of every month and i skipped my elective cause i hadnt yet.
this last weekend i went to montezuma. we stayed in santa teresa for the night and just hung out at the hostel that night. the next day we rented ATV's and rode them to montezuma (took about an hour) we hung out at the beach there all day.montezuma is basically the hippie place of costa rica so it was a very relaxing and beautiful place to be. when i imagined costa rica before i came here the beach in montezuma is what

playa montezuma i pictured. it is paradise.then we ATV'ed home. went out to dinner and a club on the beach with a huge bonfire. the next day we hung out on the beach all day. and came home sunday. the restaurants here are also all very very good casue since it is a hippie area everything is natural and organic and made fresh.so so good. i played soccer with some rastafari on the beach and got a nice tan 😊 one of the most memorable things i heard was when we were laying on the beach and heard from a vendor with his little wagon "Ive got coconuts, necklaces, cocaine, water, juice, pot" just as casual as can be. and none of the locals even bat an eye.
