Lost for words...
Err, it is just like a terry's chocalte orange. The moon turns orange in Costa Rica. The title explains our movements and actions from the last few weeks.
We send our love to you all and hope all is fine in your worlds.
Although we moved from one area of the continent to another we are still keeping it Latino. Ricki Martin once said he was "Living the viva loca". Sometimes we are and for the rest it's bed by 10pm with a book.
Over 3 weeks have passed with 3 countries thrown in. Our eyes have seen a million things and our stomach's digested much food and our bellies have properly grown a few more inches.
Once upon a time we were in Peru and after Cuzco we headed to Puerto Maldonado. A buzzy little town in the depths of deepest Peru, alas we did not see Paddington bear. Sitting on the edge of the of Madre de Dios (mother of god!) river in the Amazon. Where people pan for gold and gather brazil nuts for their main income. We spend 5 lush days hanging out in the Amazon rain forest (also called mother of god forest and indeed mother nature was in all her glory). Hot and wet with strange and
beautiful background noises from funny looking birds and monkeys. We meet 2 lovley ladies from Ireland who were good fun to spend time with in the Amazon. NO capabaras though...
Followed by a few days in Lima for all chores, coffee drinking and people whatching. I had to sort out my Mp3 and dealing with the anguish of losing 1,500 songs. I got some back and have Belinda Carilse to for long coaches. I found on my search of free download sites a cover version of Hang the DJ by The Smiths done by Tiffany! It is amazing what you discover while travelling! Who would have thought the red haired croner of I think were alone now could do a poppy and dark remake. I guess all those years in a trailer park thinking of the golden age of playing shopping malls could bring this on...
We must delcare defense of Lima! Many {if not all} say Lima is a shit hole. Get out quick and get to see the country side to see the REAL PERU! I struggle when people say this, what is a real country anyway...
Surly the captial were goverment lay, a vast
Cheeky monkey!
A cute mummy monkey open's Andy's water in The mother of god forest. amount of a population live, business generates capatial and most of the media are based might have some refelection of a real country. It would be sad not to check out a captial and in terms of Lima, yes ok it's a bit rough around the edges but people are freindly and open minded . Their are brillant cafes and resturants, some gay life, a nice sea front with a good shopping centre, cinemas, newspapers and all those nice little luxuires in life you might miss while exploring the countryside.
One thing that struck us about Lima is lots of regeneration work that has gone on. The main sqaure has been srubbed up well, with nice little cafes and heaving with people. There are many interesting sights in Lima . A good place to gain a sense of Peru's history, culture and people.
My god sometimes I hear myself and think christ you sound like your 60!
After a painless flight to Panama city we spent the next 10 days in Panama which seemed to fly by. Hitting the end of rainy season we saw some awesome tropical
Ahhhh..
Stunning sun set on the mother of god river! That mother nature know's how to put on a good show. storms, with the best thunder and lightings. Oh nature can put on a good show sometimes. After a couple of hot and wet (oh er!) days in Panama city we got out. The jury is out on the city, the answer is "not sure" but the shopping "malls" are massive. Summer in the city where the air is clear it was not. The heat had you sweating like a... hmmm, well you can fill in the gap yourself (my mum could be reading, hiya mum). Although the infamous Panama canal was a highlight. Andy was exicted I was like, oh big boats...whatever. But it was quite amazing and a little awe inspiting. We came a little late and only saw a few meduim size container ships. Was a bit gutted we didnt get to see super tankers or a cruise ship.
In Panama there is a national holiday between the 3rd and 5th November. A big deal and fiesta time which celebrates Panamas Independence from Colombia and gaining a new flag. Therefore you couldn't move for flags and revelers {Although the festivities were quite subdued...}
After our escape from Panama city we took bus through the country to
the 2nd city, David or Daveed to the locals. We spent a few days in a chilled out hostel in a nice tropical garden under a reed hut in hammocks while it rained for 36 hours.
People and their honesty constantly amaze us. We left our wallet in a taxi this morning. After much shitting of our pants we phoned the hostel, who phoned the taxi driver. 15 minutes later we got our money and card intact wallet. A well deserved grande mucho grascis and 20 dollars for this man! For all the nastiest in the world there is the balance of wonderful people. One of the joys of travelling, even if that is to Aldi or half way across the world you can meet wonderful people. Ahhhh fluffy and magic stuff.
It made me think of all the wonderful people who would read this and the people we have meet on the way. We did a little Spanish refresher course beause of lazyness setting in. It is not an excuse but people wanna practise english and sometimes we dont get understood. It is
A monkey ladder branch...
Allsorts of wonderful trees in the jungle.. not good for confidence or self esteem. We also need to stop being so lazy...story of our lifes, I guess.
Nw we are in Costa Rica and it is like a lush green tropical garden. I have wanted to come here for ages and so far it is living up to my expectations.
We spent 2 days in a seaside village , Cahuita. On the Caribean coast giving it a relaxed feel. It is the end of rainey season so not brillant weather but it is not cold. We eat, sat on the beach, walked in the forest and went to a sloth resue centre. How very cute! They are strange little creatures who some might say (Andy) are ugly. They are soo chilled out and love, love! Who would want to hurt these little things. Some people tear off their claws, so they pet's, sick!
We have just come from Tortuguero. A stunning national park on the caribean coast only accesed by boat. Out hotel was right next to the sea. A early morning row trip was a bit hard going but we got to see sun rise, monkeys, sloths, tiger herrings doing a mating
dance and blue herrings. A day of getting burned on the beach followed...nice.
We also saw a highlight baby turtles running from their eggs to the sea...AMAZING! No pictures sorry cause my battery run out!
We found are way to San Jose and now we are in a lush hotel. Very posh, we wanted some luxury after lots of cold showers. We have a nice gay hotel for a change, well it is the only one here. Cable TV and hot water and tonight we are off to a drag show!
Untill next time, take care people. Love Andy y Paulo xx

Hey Guys, all still going beautiful I read. Interesting to note that that 'WE lost our wallet'... shared wallet is pretty much marriage!!! Any proposals on the way? (sorry, that was a bit naughty of me.) Paul, I love the way you use song titles to punctuate your writing, makes me smile lots. You guys look after yourselves and enjoy Costa Rica for me. It's so high on my travels list, I'm well gutted I couldn't join you. Mucho Amores, Me/xx
