Edit Blog Post
A little different blog today. Having a good week, very busy so far. Weather's been good, we actually did have a day without rain.
Got my ticket for Heatwave 3 last night, had some good Mexican food (yeah, brand new place called Sanchos in MA, muy delicioso!), hung out with some school peeps and then got assaulted on my way home by some a-hole.
I was walking back from MA (I know, I'm "never" supposed to do that, but it wasn't that bad) and I saw this upset girl come out of this place (I don't even know if it was a hostel or casino or what) and she was walking a little behind me. Well, suddenly a small suv comes hauling ass down the hill and swerves into the opposing lane (and that's a very small windy 2 lane road) and pulls over almost into me and in front of her. I was a little startled and then a Tico guy jumps out and starts cussing her out in Spanish and getting pretty aggro. I turned around and asked if she was okay. She said, "I'm ok, I'm ok, be careful." Then homie spouts off some choice words
to me, and I replied with my usual chivalrous banter, "Why don't you treat your lady with some respect?" He said something else and then she said the same thing, "I'm ok, I'm ok, just go." So, I said, "alright, just yell if you aren't ok," and kept walking.
About 20 minutes later as I'm still coming down the hill in MA, I hear this car come up really fast behind me and so I stepped to the side of the road like you just do when that happens. Turns out to be homie from before who has followed me down the hill after he finished arguing with his girl. He pulled over to the side of the road, jumped out and called me a pelon then threw a punch. I blocked it a little and just caught it on my lip a bit, then he hit me in the side which knocked me down on one knee. (It was raining on a hill btw before you criticize my balance lol). At that point, training and instinct take over as some of you probably know. Defend yourself, neutralize the threat, and then get outta there. He was a little
bigger than I am, so I kicked his knee out, and when he went down I introduced his face to his fender a couple times to put him on his back and I got the hell out of there.
What's crazy is that as I got back into Quepos about 20 minutes later, I saw the same guy drive by again, so luckily I didn't hurt him too badly. I had my raincoat off at that point and so I don't think he recognized me, but I was pretty nervous to see that car again. But I'm ok. My side is a little sore today and my lip has a little hole inside, but I've had much worse. So, in retrospect, I hate fighting these days, but I'm glad I still can if I have to.
On a better note: Pictures!
