This was our favourite part of Costa Rica
We stayed in huts on the beach and rented bicycles to ride from village to village and beach to beach all day.

This is not the nicest beach I guess, the others in the area were nicer, but it is the one in front of the town and if you look closely you can see all the little local kids bathing here. Oh and for those with bad eyesight- those are not real turtles on the beach.

We walked from here along a path in the National Park for a few hours where we saw monkeys and coatis and lots of birds and a sloth.

A group on monkeys came right up to us on the path and posed for photos. They were really friendly. These monkey photos are a little dark since we were in fairly dense jungle at this point on the walk and I didn't want to use my flash and annoy them.

This was after they got bored of us. By the way- these are Capuchin Monkeys. We could also hear Howler Monkeys from this spot but we didn't see them till later and they stayed in the distance as they are not as friendly. They make these deep howling sounds like gorillas and they are black (in fact they kindof look like a mini gorilla) the Costa Ricans call them Congas.

If you look closely you can see a guy here disguised as a tree branch. Clever hey. He is in his natural habitat and has managed to camouflage himself.

This cute little turtle or tortoise came up to me when I was on the path to my cabin at the Cariblue lodge. He came right up and sniffed my toes and he let me pat his shell. Dan and I thought he was 100% cute

Then he proceded to walk over and start eating a pile of dog shit that was on the path. He got a big mouth full and then starting walking back towards us with his mouth overflowing with the stuff. He looked at us in this desperate hungry way and all we could do was groan and run away from him (although I stopped to take a photo of him with dog shit in his mouth as he walked off). Dan said "I don't like turtles anymore". I think his cute factor went down to about 25%

This was our cabin near the beach where we stayed while in the area. Its night in this photo so its hard to see the room but you can probably make out that sexy man sleeping in the hammock out the front.
