Well, class is almost over! We have been so busy the past two weeks with homework, creating lesson plans, creating our portfolios and resumes, and just being in class 9 hours a day. But I taught for the last time last night (it went pretty well I think) and John teaches for the last time tonight. All we have left after that is our final exam and to finish our portfolios.

We think we are going to be working for Intercultura Language School starting in January. It is not official yet, but we're pretty sure that's where we're going to go. They are a very reputable school and they offer a lot of support and structure (no more making lesson plans from scratch!). Also, they offer free Spanish lessons to their teachers which will help us a lot. There's a lot to do in Heredia (sadly, no ocean) and there are mountains there. One of the girls in my class is probably going there too and we like to surf together so we are planning to take a lot of weekend trips to the ocean to surf and swim. We will have a three day weekend

every weekend.

We are staying in Samara until probably the first or second week of January just to enjoy it without being in class and then we are moving to Heredia. We have to move out of our current apartment on Saturday though and move into another place for the last few weeks. It's kind of a pain to have to move for so short a time, but luckily we don't have all that much to move. And we'll be living closer to some of our friends from class, so it will be ok.

Yes, it feels good to be almost done with these classes. they have been quite intense and we are definitely ready for a break.
I must say that it feels nothing like Christmas here... there are hardly any decorations around town and the weather really keeps you from even thinking Christmas. I don't think I have ever had to worry about applying sun block on Christmas before.
This last weekend was quite decadent for us both. The weeks are so full and busy that once Saturday arrived the feeling of freedom was delicious. Megan hit the waves and I

found a good shade tree, pitched camp for the day, and read all day on the beach. Absolutely no obligations for the time being. Very nice.
Sunday was very mellow and we just did preparation for the coming week.
Megan asked our 'Tia' Yami, to teach her how to make tortillas. What that translated into was more of a sweet bread pancake. Still good but not quite the same as a really good tortilla. Apparently, Tico's do not eat tortillas. no biggie...
We are looking forward to our move and will soon have more free time to see this beautiful country we are now living in. We both wish all a beautiful and happy Merry Christmas and a great New Year! Until later, John.

Merry Christmas!!
Hello John and Megan – great blog entries and pictures!!. Sounds like a great adventure. … teaching, surfing, beaches, sunsets, sunrises, cool shade trees, reading, and wildlife. I guess your professors now and are making a difference in other people’s lives. Good luck in Heredia. I hear that coffee and volcanoes are big there. Have a Merry Christmas and Great New Year!!……Jamie
