This morning we got up and packed up our stuff to head to Caye Caulker. The water taxi ride only took about 35 minutes, so that was nice. The place we are staying is right by the dock, so that was nice. We didn't have to carry our stuff too far, which was a relief for the sunburned back and shoulders. We are staying at the Seaside Cabanas, in a room on the second floor. We have a great view of the beach and ocean.
We dumped our stuff off at our room and walked down the beach to see what was around for lunch. We were trying to pick a place and we heard someone call Adam's name. We couldn't figure out who would know us here, but it was a couple we had met in San Ignacio. It was funny to run into people we had met earlier in our trip. They were just finishing up lunch at Bambooze, so we decided to go in and eat there.
The restaurant was right on the beach, sandy floors inside and all! It was breezy and cool in there. All of the bar stools and some of the table chairs were

View from our room! swings instead of chairs! Adam decided to classy up his lunch and go a lobster burger. I got a mango fish sandwich. It was good stuff.
After lunch we took a walk along the water taking in the scenery and eventually cut in to Front St. to see what was around. We picked up some fanta and water to put into our little fridge.
This island is much smaller than Ambergris and much quieter and laid back (although it was hard to imagine it would be, it definitely is). The atmosphere is just calmer and people seem to take their motto of "Go Slow" seriously. We both like it better here already.
After a nice shower and nap we got ready for dinner. We walked up to the top of the island to "the split" - where there is swimming and a bar (more populated during the day). We walked around and it was good to see what was open for dinner for the rest of the week. It's the off season here so a lot of things are closed until a month later.
We ended up at Pizza Caulker, a small pizza shop. It was ranked #2 on Tripadvisor.com,
so we thought we'd give it a try. It did not disappoint! We each got a slice of pizza and a beer, and it was tasty stuff. The owner was really friendly, and it just had a great vibe for hanging out. We stayed for another beer and even met some girls who live right by us back home.
We walked back to our hotel afterward, and hung out in some hammocks out by the pool/beach for awhile just enjoying the stars and the breeze. It was a great way to end a day. I think we're both really happy to be here.
