We have been on the island of Caye Caulker for about a day and a half now, and the slow moving island life has already set in. After leaving the water taxi a man on the dock said, "Welcome to Paradise. This really is Paradise." He hit it right on the nose, because this island is wondeful. There are several backpackers her from all over the world, but it is void of your Disney Land tourists😊 There aren't any beaches here to swim in, but you enter the water at about 3 feet at the split. The split is a narrow channel of water the split the once connect island of San Pedro and Cay Caulker during a hurricane. The water is almost to warm to be refreshing, but it is so clear that you can see fish swimming with you. All of the streets on the island are paved with sand and the quickest transportation is a golf cart. But you can walk from one end to the other in 15 minutes. There are signs saying go slow, and if you are walking to fast some locals may remind you that this is a vacation. Lazy dogs, crabs, hermit

crabs, and stray cats make great company. There are great small parties at the hostels and a few bars are fun for a while. We hope to stay here for 2 more days and go snorkeling in the morning, maybe go see the manatee.
