Pakistan Railway gives discounts to foreigners and students !!!! To get the discount you got to go to the train station area and take a left turn towards the Railway reservation office. Half way between the reservation office and the train station you get the accounting office also known as the DS office. The people there are extremely friendly. All foreigners get a 25% discount. Early morning went to the Lahore train station with the Japanese guys as I was told that foreigners get a 25% discount on trains. Afterward I finished at the railway station I met Amina at 11am and went all over Lahore. We went to Anarkalee Bazaar, a few other bazaars. The Anarkalee bazaar is the Pettah equivalent (Pettah is a large wholesale shopping area in the heart of Colombo, Sri Lanka). Went to the Mineri Pakistan. IMPORTANT !!!!!!!! Sri Lankan’s, Chinese, Bangladeshi’s, Afghan’s and perhaps Nepali’s can cross the India-Pakistan border only twice a week. (Monday and Thursday) I took a train to Amritsar, bus to Atari and then a cycle rickshaw to the Wagah border to find out that Sri Lankan’s cannot cross to Pakistan using the Wagah road border. So I had to take a taxi back as there were no cycle rickshaws to be seen as I had to get to the Atari train station by 11am since the immigration closes at that time. Today is a rather frustrating day because I was not supposed to be here and there was no plan for this location today. I was supposed to wake up in a train and cross the Attari-Wagah border at 9am. Where am I ? Still in PG. Went to an internet place nearby to print copies of my medical insurance and photocopy the BUPA card. Today the rehearsals are going on for the Indian Independence Day on the 26th of Jan 2006. Road are shut and it was a nightmare getting to the embassy. I, woke up at 6:30am, because Rekha’s dad was giving me a lift to Chanakyapuri as his office is nearby. It was very kind of him to drop me right at the Hungarian embassy. It was 8:45am and they were opening at 9:30am. I decided to put a walk to the Czeck and Slovak embassies to see what their requirements. When I got back to Hungarian as usual many people had come to get visa application forms as well as handover passports. It took so long to get a visa application form. Woke up around 7am and decided to put around in Connaught Place area which never happened….went to a nearby internet place did my emailing and blog work….went to Pahar Ganj gave my clothes to be washed….. Geez it costs INR10/= for denims and t-shirts, INR7/= for socks and underwear, I couldn’t get myself to pay 7 bucks for socks so decided to wash them myself… Ended up emailing for another 2 hours in PG and went back as I had promised to meet Rekha’s to go for a movie.
