Swaying palm trees Suzi........can't you please find a volunteer job in Hawaii or the Sahara Desert next time?
Won't have to wear those 14 pair of underwear at the same time there! Dolores
Good Read! Hi Suzi...Everytime I read your blog, Lorrie and I keep saying that you must have more life's than a cat..but I believe that because you by nature is very kind and generous person, you are always surrounded by a guardian angel during perilous time. The first time we met you in Brunei,we knew you were special and we thank you for that interception in our life's journey. if you are in British Columbia Canada, and in need of a place to stay, email me. Best wishes and happy travels.
Thanks, Vijen! Wow, what kind words, Vijen. I also think so fondly of you and Lorrie and all the good times we had in Brunei. Forever friendships were made during those times. I can't believe how long it has been....a hundred years at least! I will most definitely let you know if I get to BC (again). I would like to do some exploring in your province one of these days, er, years....All the best to the both of you as well!!
It seems It doesn't get any better than this... If not you, than Who? I have been lucky enough to be back on the trail of your wonderful life adventure. Don't really know how it came to be, but you won't hear me complaining. I love the food, the architecture, the culture you are experiencing with enthusiasm. Feel free to continue sending me these dialogues and visuals. Bucket lists are always something to think about, but are even more so when they are carried out. Clowns to the Left of Me...Jokers to the Right...here I am stuck in the Middle with you and loving it and you...thanks Suzi Lee
Hey stranger! So good to hear from you, Steven. You'd be surprised how few people from SR actually still keep in touch (I sometimes think I have been forgotten...). I am so ecstatic that you still enjoy reading about my adventures. I admit I haven't had much time or inclination for writing much these past years (I go in spurts when I whip out numerous blogs at a time, and then...nothing for months or years. I need to work on that). I will most certainly strive to do better and write more frequently. I tell ya, tho, it's comments like yours that inspire me to keep going. So, if I hold up my end of the bargain by writing more frequently, will you hold up yours (by making a comment now and then)?
I hope this finds you doing well...and taking time for making your own adventures. Put that bucket list to work and get out there and cross off an item or two.
Promise to take care of yourself....
Suzi
Yo! Hi Suzi. Great travels! I haven't posted any photos for a while as media changes and time ziiiiiiiiiinnnnngggggsss! I've just done a great trip through the Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar. Fabulous. No one there... Also had a great month in Mongolia and the Gobi, plus had a couple of months work in Westen Nepal, oh a great dive trip tp Madlives with added Kerala boat excursions. Lived in a Baba House in Penang for 6 weeks...lovely. Squeezed in the UK with 3 Hong Kong trips...Passport exhausted. First time I've had in my Villa since buying it 3 years ago, in Thailand... but off to your country end of the year for a few months. This year has blipped. Keep em coming!
Livin' Large P,
Your never-ending trips exhaust me! I enjoy getting your updates when they come in, but couldn't even imagine the wild life you lead. My travels are so subdued in comparison.....
All the best!
Meeting people Ah my faithful friend, Dolores, always ready with her comments. I love hearing from you! :-) I so enjoy meeting other people when I travel - it is such a meaningful part of the experience, especially having conversations (verbal or otherwise) with the locals. Stay tuned....a story about just that will be coming soon. Take care!
Iceland and Gemany While I was in Iceland, our young woman guide said, "if you're ever lost in the Iceland forest, just stand up!"
Nice you were able to be with your Dad on that cold, cold holiday.... Dolores
Cold days My father and I were indeed together, but only in southern Germany. I was in Iceland alone before I met up with him, as it was, you know, on the way.... :-)
Foodies... My love of travel started because of you and ma and no doubt my love of food as well. I can't thank you both enough for being such an inspiration in my life.
No Bandits So Far Sizi...why do you call it Bandit Country? All seemed friendly and tranquil. I'd be like Iliana, a city girl...not only ;afraid of roars, biting anything..mozzies especially.
This story from 2012..and you've been many more kilometers since then....keep truckin' girl....nice to read your adventures....laughed when asked what you two were
up to and your reply...''if we only knew'! Dolores.
In response... Hi Dolores, I think it was called Bandit Country because of, well, the banditos that live there on the border of Mexico and Guatemala. We were fortunate to only have met kind and selfless locals. The chances of us "outsiders" actually running into any bad guys would have been pretty slim, but the chance is always there.
Left the USA on October 10, 2006 and at the time of writing (May 24, 2008) I have no definite plans of going back for a while. Too much of the world to see, too many new friends to make, too many new cultures and languages to understand. Work can wait. My life can not.
I'm a bare-bones budget traveler, getting around by hitch-hiking, taking local chicken buses and sleeping in cheap hostels or occasionally on the floor of kind locals. I have been blessed to experience what I have thus far on my journey.
Traveling and volunteering my way around the world has become a lifestyle choice for m... full info
