Scottish Tour Guide ... when arriving at Maccu Piccu a stranger was approaching from the other direction and asked Kirsten ... how far is it?. To which Kirsten responded " if you are going to Maccu Piccu it is only 50m or so"... where else would a lightly dressed tourist be going in the middle of the Andes?
Happy Belated B-DAY!!! Hey, Deb... sorry I didn't send a birthday e-mail, I thought about you, I just wasn't home at all, and I apologize. I can't wait to hear more about your trip and see you! Love you lots!!
Spectacular! These photos are too spectacular for words! I am so impressed that you have made it, so congratulations! For years I have enjoyed reading about other people's climbing adventures ("Into Thin Air," for example)... now I actually know someone who is having those adventures! I know that climbing is something I would have enjoyed at a younger time in my life, so I absolutely love reading your journal entries. I love your writing style. Lots of vivid detail and a great sense of humor. Thanks for sharing with us armchair travelers! Oh, and Happy Birthday, too!
ooh la la This is so cool - great pics and great blog. I SO want to be there!! Happy Birthday a day early (since you seem to be online today). I can't wait to hear even more details - it just seems so otherwordly when reading about it from good old boston. can't wait to hear about the amazon!
pics Deb: congrats for making it! And, many thanks for the OUTSTANDING pics. Now tell me the truth, did YOU really take these?
Glad it's all going so well. I'm jealous.
Now, I've got my own adventure: Las Vegas. The only sights there are topless women. Darn.
So let me get this straight... You were hit-on my a half man half wolf demon and ate guinea pig? Can't wait to hear what happens out on the trail :). Great pic of the rainbow!
Hi to both of ya! Hey Deb and Nancy,
By the time you read this I expect you will have completed your Inca trail trek, so I hope it was amazing and your quads loved it :-) Song title? I'm sure there must be a song title or two in the works by now..
Deb, thanks so much for taking the time to keep us all posted on your adventure - it's definitely helping to convince me that S. America needs to stay high on my "next big trip" list. And I hope things are going ok for your grandpa.
Take care, and enjoy the rest of your trip!!

looking great I didn't realize how much of this trip you were doing on your own with Nancy at the beginning. Cool to decide to go check out that lake before the hike kicks in. Guess you'll need all the luxery you can get - it looks so beautiful down there - enjoy enjoy enjoy as it's freezing and staticy dry up here!!
thx Thanks for the birthday shout out. It's freezing and typical northeast blah here so I spent my birthday living vicariously thru you. Have fun and upload pics soon.
Have Fun I bet you'll end up picking on pair of pants and top to hike in and just wear them every single day - they'll get nastier and nastier and that'll be fine - keeps the bugs away :) Can't wait to hear about it.
Peru Ho... Glad to be included in your blog notice... I'll subscribe and keep tabs on you, or rather, live vicariously through your great adventure. Prayers for you (that you altitude-adjust quickly and conquer the Inca trail in style) and your grandpa. Enjoy!
paradise Wow. That sounds so lovely. Especially since I now have a kayak that I paddle around in to explore the sights. Except one small problem...my sights include a man made lake by the Corps of Engineers while yours included a God-made lake by the Master engineer Himself. No comparison. :)
J.R.R. Tolkien once wrote: "Not all those who wander are lost". This has become something of a mantra for my life which brings me to the question: Can wanderlust be in your genetic code? If so, then that would explain mine... I have always loved adventure and travel, even as a kid. I've discovered that the older I get, the more adventuresome I become so, if this trend continues, I'll probably be trying to get on a space shuttle flight when I'm 80. In the meantime, I'm happy to share my growing adventures - enjoy!
