Arriving at Heathrow on Sunday, Chris picked up and we stayed with him for another 2 nights. Before I go any further: To Chris a MASSIVE BIG THANK YOU, for your warmth and hospitality. It was so great to catch up with you and we truly appreciate you letting us come and stay with you. Keep smilin’ sweetheart! Nai and GD Sunday Arvo we did the typical Aussie thing, we went to the pub! But this was a special kind of pub. You ordered you drinks at the Roebuck, walk across the road to the park sit down with your BYO cheese and bickies to enjoy the amazing sunset. The very last day of our trip we spent eyeing around London, Tate modern gallery, and the war museum. From there is was 36 hrs of travel, ... read more

From Nyon we header to Lauterbrunnen, in the Swiss Alps, such amazing wilderness! We spend three nights here, traveled to Jungfraujoch, the highest point you can get to by train in Europe - referred to as “Top of Europe” its 3571m above sea level. The temperature a contrast from the last couple of weeks! We had the opportunity to lots of walking and appreciate the beautiful scenery and take in some very fresh air. ... read more

From Lacanau we headed east, across France to Switzerland, 7 hours driving, one currency change and Hello Lake Geneva! We stayed in a little town right on the lake called Nyon. It was such a pretty place. Where we stayed was pretty posh, lots of Porches in car park. We were that stuffed from driving that we just went to the restaurant in the hotel. There were all these fireworks and bungers going off in the park next door right in fromt of the Marina, we went to investigate and they had a massive bonfire on what is normally the skateboard ramp. Trying to figure our what it was the most interesting thing I could come up with was that it was 1st August so it must be the official beginning of school holidays and kids ... read more

We headed back to the Atlantic coast, it was a day of travel, we caught the train back to Biarritz, thankfully our car was still in tact where we had packed a short walk from the train station. From Biarritz, we headed back up the coast to our favorite town called, Lacanau Ocean. I think we were both a little concerned because we were heading back in peak holiday season and we weren't really sure if we could manage to get some accommodation. We decide to try the camping ground that we stayed at last time, sure enough the sign said "COMPLET" - bugger! They had stepped up security as well. We parked the car, and I really wasn't sure how we were going to swing this one. Walking up to the security if GD's best ... read more

This was definitely one of the best days of this trip! Down along the Champs Elysees we managed to get an awesome spot to see the end of the Tour. We waited for about 3 hours but it was worth it. The street was alive with so much atmosphere and excitement while everyone tried to get in the best position to capture all of the action as the riders came into town. The speed at the riders go past is unexpected, they were still going quickly even at the end of the race. We timed one of the laps and it was 7 minutes 15 seconds. I managed to get more than 250 shots, I still haven’t gone through all of them but I have managed to get some ready for the blog. After the laps ... read more

GD and I caught the overnight train from Biarritz to Paris and arrived at 7am Saturday morning. Jumped on the Metro and headed to the hotel, thankfully they let us in early. We started the day by visiting the Arc de Triomphe, which is just such an amazing sight. I found it overwhelming walking up the stairs of the metro to see such a sight. I think I had one of those moments that catapults back to reality and the reality was that I actually made it Paris. It certainly made me realise just how fortunate I am to have the life that I've got. From the Arc we made our way down the Champs Elysees to The Louvre. We saw the Mona Lisa, I have to admit I was expecting the size of the painting ... read more

We traveled back to Spain after the wedding, arriving back to Valencia about 9pm Monday night. Greg and I were lucky enough to stay with our friends Brett, Lou and their daughter Clare for the next four days. Brett and another friend of ours Tim are working for team Alinghi, the defenders of the America’s Cup that will be held in Valencia next year. The port where all the teams are located is amazing, unfortunately I didn’t get any shots as photographs were not allowed  I didn’t realise until now just how much money is invested in this event. We managed to go out for dinner, one night with Brett, Lou, Tim and Kim, it was really good catching up with everyone. One of the days Greg and I went exploring around the old town ... read more

The day after wedding all the guests were invited back to park house for sandwiches. The weather was absolutely stunning, so we all relaxed underneath the shade of the trees, some of us nursing hangovers from the celebration of the night before. In between this, we played ping pong, croquet and watched some of the little kids and big kids play hide-n-seek. Later in the afternoon after the guys had a few more beverage, Nick bought out his little bike, it was an odd site to see these grown boys tearing up the lawn through a game of croquet. Thankfully Alice’s parents didn’t seem to mind too much. Although the bike was gone once Steve had managed to collide with the hedge! ... read more

The Wedding

A traditional English wedding with a hint of German! The reason I say this is that while the wedding was held is Alice’s hometown of Aspley Guise the Grooms family are German. Although Mark grew up in Australia his parents are German and the majority of their family still live in Germany. There were a lot of people from both sides of the family and friends who traveled some distance for this wedding which I think made it more of a special event. This was the first church wedding I had been to in a very long time. The Vicar did a fantastic job, the best was I can describe the projection of his voice, is hire the “Four weddings and a Funeral” DVD. The ceremony went without hitch and a few tears from the audience. ... read more
